Raiders on at 4

Phil 5:00 I'm guessing

Phish 730ish $30 on LivePhish.com

Poster says 2:00 Pacific time. Assume that's for MNN. Phil around 3:30 or 4?

Email from them says Show time: August 14th 2022 at 5:00 pm Eastern. As Surfdead says, 2:00 Pacific.  I'm going out at 4:30 so I'll have a couple of hours of music from Stern Grove. Nice.

Midnight North is sounding good right now, with the harp & violin players (and Jason Crosby) sitting in. And pops is watching from the back.

And it looks like an amazing sunny day in an area of the city that is often a total fog belt this time of year.

Far out.

MN wrapping up shortly. Phil at 2:45 or 3pm, probably.

Nice set by MNN,

Bobby's not the only one who can rock a hat.

> Stanley looks overwhelmed

Found his footing nicely in the Shakedown.

Like how they've been conducting who solos, Phil gave nods to everyone but Stanley, until Shakedown st, and he delivered!  I remember some of his earlier shows with Phil, very hit or miss depending on how comfortable he felt, IMHO (he always did his solo stuff great).

With Jordan playing that's as predictable as the sun rising in the east. Guaranteed, every time.

Ultimately there are too many cooks, not enough chefs in this group for my taste.

The harp is a keeper though.

It was fun to see friends in virtually every crowd shot.

The interplay of Jordan's guitar tone and Davis' harp is really interesting. Very similar tone and plucking at times, but they're distinctly different too.

I like it Lance. Better than most of the Phil stuff I've heard for the past few years. I love the fiddle and Harp. Softens the music. I wish they would have went into the whole Terrapin Suite

She's pretty much killed it the whole show.

God Bless You Phil!

Good show!

fiddle play deserves to be named: https://katiejacoby.com/

She and Scott Metzger are a pair.

>>>And not a dishwasher to be found among them<<<

Actually, if we're going to be literal about it, there were three Family Band members in today's group.

And if I'd been there I probably would have liked the pastoral group flow more, and to my ear they got better as they went, but there were so many players on stage there was no one taking the lead, and especially early on, as often happens in groups that have never played together, everyone was looking at everyone else, a little unsure of when to step up, thus no one was stepping up.

I admit I wasn't listening fully most of the set, but the one really interesting solo I heard came from Metzger in St. Stephen, getting weird and discordant, and getting some electrification into it.

Sure looked like a fine afternoon in that great little park though, I'm sure most had a fine time.

Now I'm off to the Frost to see My Morning Jacket.

I probably won't have any issues with not enough electricity at that show.

I dug that 100 %!

Katie Jacoby is a player.

that was one of the best and most interesting phil shows i've seen. wonderful song selection to let the different instrumentation shine. dark star was sick!

really terrific.

our leader.

Were there any tapers at this show? I'm not seeing anything up on archive yet.

There was a taper located near me in the pit, so it will turn up.

I agree, fantastic show!

I hope they rebroadcast the stream.

Agree with Turtle!

Phil is so talented with assembling lineups and matching songs to their strengths.

Would love to watch this again as I missed the Dark Star.

Graham is getting better.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Face, how did you manage to embed video? <img src> tag?

This combination of musicians made this the best version of this song that I've seen. I've seen Stanley Jordan do it a few times and it's been okay, but this was the best. It's not a song I love.

That's the first video I've seen on Viva - zoners amaze me.

Face, how did you manage to embed video? <img src> tag?<<<<<

This combination of musicians made this the best version of this song that I've seen<<<

Agreed!

Face, does that mean that you are not sharing the information about how you embedded the video?

> Ancient Chinese Secret Huh

Nyuk nyuk nyuk. But no, really. How'd you get that to work? The system here has it coded as an <iframe>, probably automatically, but that tag's not available to users as far as I know.

I think it's safe to say that Garth would want you to share.

Edit: Good timing, judit. I think he's just toying with me a bit, and in a particularly clever way. (Yes, dammit, I will stoop to flattery at times when there's something I want in return.)

Face, does that mean that you are not sharing the information about how you embedded the video?<<<

If it's for a security reason, I absolutely will share!

However ....

The system here has it coded as an <iframe>, probably automatically, but that tag's not available to users as far as I know.<<<

I'm not sure if you're referring to <iframe> not being "available" to users as a predefined tag (button) or in source mode?

Ultimately, I used source mode, but it wasn't as straightforward as simply copying and pasting embed code from YouTube.  It took a little bit trial and error, but if you paste the embed code (<iframe>) in source mode AFTER having previewed some other extraneous content, then click "Post Message" (not preview) it should work.

Apparently, the "Preview" will strip out enough characters to break the code so as the embedded video won't be displayed.  Likewise, I was unable to create a brand new thread with an embedded video & also editing an existing thread (within 5 minutes) will blow apart the embedded video (if I remember correctly).

Got it. Very nice loophole find. It looks like you can't edit the post afterwards though; the code seems to disappear.

It just occurred to me that this should be able to be used for live webcasts too, at least ones from youtube. This could get really interesting. Taking sharing to a whole new level.

just had to replace the batteries in my UPS so went dark for 30 minutes, but glad to see you've figured it out

Got it. Very nice loophole find. It looks like you can't edit the post afterwards though; the code seems to disappear<<<

Yeah, I noticed this too about editing, but haven't fully tested it.  Have also been meaning to test how long one is afforded to edit a post after the "edit" link has been clicked on?  I believe it goes past the allowed time that is initially displayed (perhaps indefinitely).

I think we should probably agree to never set autoplay to 1. That would get really annoying in a hurry.

Edit: I think we can still edit these posts, but not in the conventional sense of "editing". More like redo it completely within the 5 minutes (or so; I'm curious about that now too) allowed for editing. Maybe not though. I'll have to test it out in the test thread under Techie Talk.

It just occurred to me that this should be able to be used for live webcasts too, at least ones from youtube. This could get really interesting. Taking sharing to a whole new level.<<<

I think so too, but in reality, wouldn't it just only be a click away anyhow if someone just posts a link to YouTube?

>  wouldn't it just only be a click away anyhow if someone just posts a link to YouTube?

Sure, but if it's a paid webcast, then it could be shared with those who didn't pay.

I think we should probably agree to never set autoplay to 1. That would get really annoying in a hurry.<<<

ha ha ... hadn't thought of that one!

I was actually coming at it from another direction in so far as wondering if the dimensions were to be explicitly set larger for desktop monitors if it'd scale down automatically for mobile devices?  I quickly looked and it doesn't appear to be the case.

But there's always full screen mode on the YT controls (which can't be accessed on ratdog.org BTW)

The dimensions can be adjusted, or eliminated probably. And if Ratdog.org won't let you go to full screen, that might have ben turned off by them. (Fullscreen is one of the embed attributes.)

Sure, but if it's a paid webcast, then it could be shared with those who didn't pay.<<<

Ahhh .... I see now!

I suspect those streams would have embedding disabled by the owner of the channel. I had actually tried to embed Mountains of the Moon, but it wouldn't allow me for this reason.

The dimensions can be adjusted, or elimated probably. And if Ratdog.org won't let you go to full screen, that might have ben turned off by them. (Fullscreen is one of the embed attributes.)<<<<

Yeah, ratdog.org has a UI / "smart tags" to embed YouTube (no getting at the source), so you're likely correct about the system on ratdog.org simply turning full screen off across the board.

BTW, I love hearing Mikaela Davis on Mountains!

Thanks for posting FOM!

> Have also been meaning to test how long one is afforded to edit a post after the "edit" link has been clicked on?

I did two tests just by watching the clock on my PC. The first exceeded 5 minutes by a few seconds, and it worked just fine, so I did another test using a stop watch. At 6 minutes I hit Post Message and it posted just fine.

Thanks for the link Doc!

I have a friend who is quite ill. He will appreciate the easy access.

Any Audio Downloads ??

This would be consistent with my experience.  I've yet to see how long it can go.   I suppose one could create some mischief with this ... especially if it also holds true on an OP.

Almost finished watching this show and really dig it overall!  ... looks like a great venue and reminds me somewhat of Hornings from some of the shots of the trees going back
