Hey Bluest and nedb! Doolittle.

They really captured that carousel sound; good for them. Good for us.

It's nice to see Phil playing again for sure.

I had forgotten about Shappy's "Knock Down Dolls" until seeing them a little while ago on the feeds tour through the venue.  I always thought they're kinda creepy & too carnival-barkish, IMO.

Set 2

The Wheel >
Unbroken Chain >
New Speedway Boogie

This stream is making for a very pleasant Thursday evening.

Set 2

The Wheel >
Unbroken Chain >
New Speedway Boogie >
Stella Blue

Just tuning in, they sound peppy and light on their feet, with a nice easy groove.

I like the drummer right away, busy but not obtrusive, dancing with the beat.

As usual, maybe the guitars need some time to gel. With three of them, and two probably never having played any of these songs live before, that needs time, and of course it's probable that these Dawes guys aren't really experienced improvisors, and THAT can take more than just a little time.

Still, a nice groovy sound.

Atta' boy Phil, still chooglin' after all these years.

Doesn't look too packed.   Tix still on sale.   What's the ground report say?

Hey Lance, the guys had some practice time in the Grate room. I have those set lists, do you want to see them?

I wasn't on the ground, Zang, but based on what I heard last night, I'm considering paying for the stream tonight. Last night was pretty rocking, and I'm curious what they can do if Phil leads them to some deeper spaces.

will Phil be back on the left coast for a sit-in with Stu @ TXR Jerry Day...

Seemed like there was plenty of room for everyone to get down

It's going to be tight. So no predictions from me.

Hey, Pete. I'm curious about those rehearsal setlists if that's something you can post.

I probably should wait until the shows are over, I just like teasing Lance because he never wants to see a set list.

I was having a hard time trying to not look at the drummer's set list last night.

Damn you Peak!!!

But don't hold back on my account. I'm not watching the full streams so go ahead and ruin it for everyone else!

>>>Seemed like there was plenty of room for everyone to get down<<<

I was thinking that it looked the way it should ALWAYS look at a show. Full but not PACKED.

Just because a venue capacity is set at a certain number (and is usually set uncomfortably high, adding in lobby space and other areas inside the doors) doesn't mean the shows have to be sold to that number. It's a bummer than those who run venues always feel that sardine cans are a good way to present & enjoy music.

To that I suppose they'd say, "Well then, open your own venue, smartass!"

I can carry on conversations with myself all day.

It's a gift.

Excellent work right there, Lance. TGIF!

Isn't Bill Graham famous for over selling tickets and pocketing the profits.

Is that a question do little?

And yeah, Graham was very good at taking advantage of every inch of legal capacity. It was his voice I heard in my head when I was thinking of that response.

He did get better with that sort of thing later in his career, but he definitely knew how to squeeze 103 pennies out of every dollar.

Somewhat paradoxically, Bill Graham was also famous, and probably moreso, for putting on shows where people like us could freak freely and safely while listening to the bands and music we love.

It was a rhetorical question Lance! It seems to be common knowledge that he did that. Read many SF bands talk about it. Maybe even in Phil's book?

Way more fun tonight. Female singer is mesmerizing.
