Dialed in and ready.

Watching... good to see a Phil and Friends lineup.

There you go

been a while, since I have seen some live Phil

Watch "Phil Lesh & Friends - Live from The Peach Music Festival - 7/28/2019 - Scranton, PA" on YouTube
https://youtu.be/wFXHRc1Tj9E

Just a Little Light may be an homage to the Phil & Friends show in Baltimore 20 years ago...Dylan opening for Phil '99, it was after that show I realized tour was back on and the psychedelic revolution of consciousness was alive & well!

     ...certainly an homage to Brent

     https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brent_Mydland

Let’s drift on out for a bit

Slow start to the show but this is what keeps me coming back

Best Phil and Friends line-up in a long damn time.

Sounds great.

Vocals on Bird Song were phantastic, Phil just keeps getting better and better!  79 and playing so fine

Watchtower... Phil smiling... band is fine.

I'm not a big fan of Warren's sound but this is okay.

First time seeing Holly live, other than YouTube, very nice player

You should check out Ghost Light, Fabes.

Nothing lasts

stay safe freaks

So Into the Mystic was the show ender?

Wonder how long this weather delay will last....

JRAD's Vermont show was delayed, too, and the stream was cancelled.

Thought Phil was playing 2. Maybe set break and storm will align.

In some ways tonight is the 50th anniversary of Woodstock..."It's a free concert from now on, now that doesn't mean anything goes!!!!!"

In the spirit of Woodstock...Unbroken Chain!

Fuck-A-Doodle-dooooo

nice,

Video and audio are seriously out of sync.

Hard to watch. Gonna turn it up louder and get some shit done.

Looked up after posting that and it was better.smiley

In my opinion Holly Bowling is one of the most important musicians on Earth right now.

Who's going to cover her work in 50 years?

This band is on fire.

You also support Trump so your opinion isn’t worth much.....

Better but not just exactly perfect.

searching for the sound

Ugh. I had to turn it off.

Streams never work for me, but Scofield NEVER has worked for me with Phil, and his fumbling, clammy, often clueless solo's are losing me again. He's a great player in his world, but IMO he has no idea what he's doing in a Grateful Dead setting, and after all these years it seems that he has never learned.

And Warren is Warren. He's a fine rocker but he's always exactly the same.

Still, if I was there I'd be hearing it much differently and possibly having a different experience, but Warren always goes where he's always been, and Scofield never goes anywhere, whether on a stream or the many times I've seen him live with Phil.

I always try to see him with his own groups, but these days I stay away when he's with Phil.

YMMV

(In honor of JWood)

I have very mixed feelings about Warren, having said that, tonight was very special...Holly is AMAZING, she's absolutely sublime, one of the great artists on Earth right now, and of course...it goes without saying, PHIL IS THE MAN!!!!!

It's as if he's providing an example of how to age gracefully, it's a safe bet Phil has ingested as many psychedelics as you have, and he obviously has it together...think about that for five minutes.

We are truly blessed, my first interaction with the old philzone was the moment of shared consciousness during his liver transplant...it's truly divine intervention that he's been with us these last 21 years, I shudder to think where western civilization would be without his influence on our shared culture.

     Namaste!

The psychedelic revolution of consciousness is alive & well!

Bummer, very sad. You can't go to an outdoor test without some nut job trying to kill ya. This crap has to stop.

Thanks for the update Druba...now go copy & paste a meme from your Facebook reality post haste!

Not gonna happen.

After a slow start they finally caught the breeze and it was smooth sailing after that.

Just Fucking Philnomenal 2nd set. Sco's precision intricacies weaved with Warrens soulspace mindfuck playing was some  P + F's magic almost worthy of Q status. Best I've heard Phil play that bass in years, fine job vocally too.

Best Marcus King show I've ever heard, period.

Sit and watch an outdoor fest on tv ? Not a fucking chance. Audio is all anyone needs. Searching for the sounds, not the sights. Had it playing all weekend outside under the sun and the stars on the outdoor Bose. Great sounding sets by all the bands.Yonder Mt kicked it, they all pretty much kicked it.

Like me ol grand pappy used to say - " If you didn't have fun, it was your own damn fault "

I'm not a big fan of Warren's sound but this is okay.>>>>>>>>

Not the most popular opinion with the Q fans but I agree with you 100%

I cannot put my finger on it exactly but he has 4 or 5 riffs he uses often and they are just annoying to me.

My wife is a big fan.

Now Stanley Jordan on the other hand is a fuckin MONSTER

only caught the 1st tset.

phil was sounding good.

liked holly.

sco's solo on watchtower was hot.

warren, enough with the slide already, and you don't have to sing every song.

Unless Phil tells you to sing every song.

Stanley Jordan is more useless then Sco in a P&F lineup.  At least Sco can kill the classic 3 chorders.

Warren helped developed the P&F sound so anyone bitching should just stop w/Phil shows. Phil knows were the pinnacle was of his band and also knows why this scene still exists...and it sure wasn't Ratdog.   Go see Dead and Co.

pull that rib outta your ear.

If Warren never existed you wouldn't be telling me to pull the rib outta my ear.

You'd be on Ratboard with the rest of the schleps.

sure, sport-o.

No Q, no philzone.org, no Turtle.  It's not really that difficult.

Ever since Jerry left us, Warren has been shouldering quite a load. The man has Crossover Power. The Mule origional 3 piece was one untouchable force of nature - after Woody not bad but the 3 was it. Then thanks to Warren's power for the resurrection of the ABB and oh yeah, the Q power. Thankful and grateful for him aren't accurate enough words.  If not for Warren ? Fuck, I cant imagine that void, and shutter to even think of it.

Warren is Turtle's mama...

Never thought of it that way but I guess Warren is all of our mammas.... Jimmy, Rob and Molo our uncles and Phil the Granpappy.

Is Jill our daddy?

wait, warren started the Q?

its ok saucy krew...don't be so butt hurt

Turtles the red headed step child.

take it easy mule army

Lol!

Warrens comin for your dreams tonight.  Maybe he'll bring Grace Potter along with him.

he's better than ross james.

I think we can all agree that Grace Potter ruined the jamband scene.

Who was that female zoner that stalked Warren?

>>>No Q, no philzone.org<<<

I don't know the particulars of when and exactly why The Creators started philzone.org, but almost from the moment I first discovered the site in '06 I have believed that the zone was much more a Q fan site than a Phil Lesh fan site, so that statement may well be true.

But Phil Lesh & Friends was happening & successful before the Q and the concept continued successfully for years after the Q. If there had been no Q many of you would never have seen a band you truly love, and maybe there would have been no zone, but Phil & Friends would still have rolled right along the path it ultimately traveled.

>>>he's better than ross james<<<

He's better than Barry Sless too, but I prefer Sless with Phil over Warren.

if you say so buddy.

how's rib man's pedal skills?

angela...something

"I don't know the particulars of when and exactly why The Creators started philzone.org...."

I started hanging here in the fall of '99 (right before the Baltimore show mentioned above) so it was created pre Q.

It was started pre Q as Thom says.  PLQ brought the traffic, the posters and ultimately everyone that still posts here.

I'm not exaggerating when I state that the whole GD scene would be a smattering of what it is now if PLQ hadn't come along.

Turtle -  Warren has 0.0 pedal skills.  I'm a huge fan of Barry -- when Phil shelved him I was always in the camp of we need Barry.  Warren is just a completely different animal.  Warren can lead a band.  Barry can't.

The 2nd best Phil lineup was '05 w/Barry. The Shadows of the Moon Tour holds up with anything Phil's done.

lead the band to mc ribs?

hey i like him in mule. he's a good rocker. he sings. i get it.

i find his tone with phil grating.

and the slide, christ. please stop.

by the way, barry leads the david nelson band.

maybe he can cover smoke on the water?

and yeah jonas, the 05's were good w/ barry/larry. too bad he never brought it out west...

i don't/didn't get it.

> DING <

thought we were bashing scofield in this thread?

dancers don't dance when he solos

he has no female stalkers

no lift off  when Phil tosses him the baton

he had a better watchtower solo.

He had a smokin watchtower solo

That second set was the BEST P&F we were treated to in quite some time...melting, and weaving the notes and melody!  Sublime and absolute MAGIC!

I have no idea what anyone is talking about when the reference Sco getting lost with the GD catalog...or doesn’t know the material.  He knows the material quite well!  The man is a psychedelic monster...and iffin ya ain’t gettin’ that, well, that’s too bad.  Lol

Turds...too cool for school as always.

And Lance, it’s just a Little Rock and Roll...eh’. ;)

The man is 79 years old and EVERY show is a fuckin gift!  It’s an honor for ME to be there for HIM.

And not too much about how Phil laid down the tracks last night in that 2nd set...an absolute beast he was!  Just incredible!

Thank you Phil!!

Hey Jimmy, nice to see you.

I think it's worth remembering that we hear(d) on the stream is not like being there. I love Phil and his playing, that's LOVE, but I left the webcast soon after they started after the break. If I'd been there it might not have been what I listen for, but I would have stuck it out. Just wasn't happening for me, and especially not over the internet. And no, I haven't ever been a Q fan.

Haters gonna' hate.

Judit & Lance are so anti.

Not liking the Q and posting, never mind being a moderator, is akin to watching a streaming service but never being a fan of Al Gore(sarcasm intended).  Really though without the Q none of this would be happening.

Jimmy needs to let the rugs wear off.

hi ro-j.

I got back from Walden Woods and Peach Fest last night.

If you didn't already hear, Phil threw down Sunday.

And I mean it.

A girl standing behind us, during the first few minutes post-show, with folks standing around reorienting to the ground, said, "Dude, Phil just demolished this place."

Always good to hear.

There was a stand selling copies of performances at Peach Fest.

I bought a Kimock CD of the SKF 2017 set.

The guy at the stand said Phil wouldn't allow them to record his own sets.

I'm not entirely sure how all that stuff works:

https://archive.org/details/plf2019-07-28.litz.neumannKM150.flac16/plf20...

I feel like it's Phil showing a little solidarity with us.

Real fun show. Phil's vocals were noticeably strong.  Warren utilized some of his better classic tones and effects. UJB end jam especially. An excellent setlist coupled with big dog musicians made for a special show.  Very nice to be back in the glow of the Phil Zone.

>>>>Phil's vocals were noticeably strong.<<<<

For sure.

I think he fumbled one verse in Birdsong and that's about it.

Strong Phil singing all night.

And Holly Bowling too!

I was a little skeptical since I knew she plays in a GD cover band.

But I thought her playing was most excellent, and I detected no effort to mimic an era of GD keys.
