Happy Birthday (to Amy and Nikki)

Attics of My Life (Grahame on Acoustic, Jason on Keys, Ross on Tele - Vox by Phil, Amy & Alex)

Fun show - way better than expected but missing that special lead guitar sweetness.

Still nothing to complain about - a hell of a lot of entertainment and talent on display.

>> Happy Birthday (to Amy and Nikki) <<

I think it was Amy, Grahame and Jay.  Good show, looking forward to many more this month!

Wow. Hope to hear a recording.

*toke*

Where was Scott Law?

eh.

Scott Law in the bar.  Sitting in for Grahame in Midnight North.

We were down the road at Sweetwater for the woefully under-attended but stupendous set put on by Larry Campbell and Theresa Williams. It was a shame more folks didn't turn out for them, but those of us there were treated to a great set. The venue was set up cabaret style and was quite comfy.

Actually Scott and Grahame both played with Midnight North pre-show.

Midnight North had both Scott and Nikki Bluhm sitting in and they sounded fantastic.

In fact I was mentally arguing that what was going down (at least on paper) had more entertainment potential in the bar then in the Grate Room.

The big show was good.  Great singing with Amy Helm involved and a bunch of great tunes from The Band, Sam Cooke and even Bruce Springsteen.

Without the presence of a "Jerry" style guitarist I went in with low expectations and I was happy with what I saw.  The Harmony treatments of most songs were great

and both Ross MF James and Grahame Lesh were in fine form - even without a more marquis player involved.

Phil as usual was the most interesting thing on stage.

Alex Korford was solid on drums and fantastic withe vox.

Jason is for sure the VIP in this ensemble.

Amy and Nikki made Brokedown Palace a thing of brilliant beauty and the Encore of Attics with 3 part harmony and beautiful finger picked guitar from Grahame, backed up with complimentary fills from Jason and Ross was also gorgeous.

It was my Birthday also - #52!

Fun times in TXR Land!

Did Jason have a mic?  I don't remember him singing at all.  Alex sang on Attics.

Season of the Witch opener, pretty funny, just saw Donovan last Thursday.

"woefully under-attended but stupendous set put on by Larry Campbell and Theresa Williams"

That's a crime.

Sunflower - the fills were instrumental.

Grahame picked acoustic, Jason and Ross played instrumental fills and Phil, Alex and Amy sang attics as a trio.

Here's my vid of the Attics - which, despite the intial buzzy PA issues was fantastic.

Here's RMJ & Co ploughing through "The Shape I'm In."

His bizarre vocals aside - the jam in this one was pretty huge.

Loved seeing Phil pound this one out.

Here's some Midnight North doing some TWANG music with Scott Law and Nikki Bluhm.

Due to the tight camera angle I couldn't get too much of Grahame in the capture...

(Please let me know if I got the name of this song wrong and I'll correct it.)

Thanks Treblemaker!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

It was great to see you at TXR on Saturday night.

Phil and a similar lineup (TFB) will be playing for free in the TXR bar on 12/07, 12/12, and 12/21

Always good to hang with ya JohnnyD!  Thanks for the kind Bday wishes and the BEER!

Here's a little more Midnight North and once again - if I got the title wrong please let me know and I'll edit it.

>>>woefully under-attended but stupendous set put on by Larry Campbell and Theresa Williams<<<

They did a show two or three months ago at TxR that was well attended. Could be that folks didn't go a second time so soon.

I was at that TxR show, which was seated & pin-drop quiet, and I thought it was the best setting for Theresa I've seen.

To my ear she can get a bit over-amped & shrieky when singing rock 'n roll, but in that duo setting with the always just right Larry C. she was gentle and... just right.

Looks like a good night in the little room, wish I'd been there.

Thanks for the report, and HB!

Fun show, lots of b-days this weekend!

LOVE THIS PLACE thanks Treble
