at the Time i thought  This Band Will Play Forever  70 plus shows in 2001

That was a good Shoe, I was there for that 3 Shoe run.  Here's my fav (that I attended) from the summer of '01:

https://archive.org/details/phil2001-07-27.km184.aerco.d10proII.ackerman...

Also hit those Greek Berkeley shows and the ones in '02. Looking back, '02 was five in a row for me from Eugene through the Frost. That's probably my longest stretch of "Tour" since 80's GD. In retrospect I'm really glad I got to see as many as I did, especially in nice places like the Frost, the Greek, the Cuthbert.

Lucky to have been living in the West back then, and have friends who were into catching as many as possible (within reason)

After one of the '02 Greek shows, I stumbled out of the Durant hotel in search of snackies and saw a flier for an official Phil CD signing, so we went down to the bookstore for signed copies of TABA, and of course got to chat briefly with Phil. Our conversation was a comparison of the vibe of different venues and their effect upon the performance, and we both agreed this one was INTENSE.

5/28/02 Hult Center Eugene OR

Certainly worth a listen if Archive has a nice copy.

I'm guessing he's tired and has to pee.

Wait...what?

This one is often overshadowed by the 2 nights before but has a really jammy Tomorrow Never Knows & the threesome of China Cat -> Golden Road -> King Solomon's is no sloucher either.  I think this is the night Bucky & a bunch of other folks got The Whistler kicked out of the show.

Noticing a pattern here

I was looking at the reviews for the 7-3 Cuthbert Druba posted, and someone commented how hot  the weather was. I just remember it as a nice Sunny OR day, probably because Berkeley just prior was warmer. I recall a friend drove and we took a nap in her truck canopy right near Autzen; nobody bothered us.

Actually forgot about the Warren opener set.

The 3rd (Sun) Greek show was during the day and a real BROILER - may have topped 100.  I was pissed I missed those 2 Red Rocks shows, they did all my favorites & jammed endlessly.

<<I was looking at the reviews for the 7-3 Cuthbert Druba posted, and someone commented how hot  the weather was. I just remember it as a nice Sunny OR day>>

I thought the weather was perfect, not too hot, a slight breeze, folks were laidback.  My only complaint was the beer cups becoming smaller, while the price became larger, after the first set!

Warrens Haynes solo acoustic set opener was intimate, and I loved it when Jimmy Herring brought out his guitar instead of long time guitar tech Brian Farmer (RIP).  That seemed to surprise Warren, and the crowd got a good chuckle out of it!  Nice long ten minute jam to start the show, great solos all set.  The 2nd set opener of Revolution was a very nice touch, and the first "King Solomon's Marbles" (stronger than dirt) since 76 was smoking!  The full moon rising behind the stage was epic (didn't Rob B. say "I see a bad moon rising" ?).  Ken Kesey sat next to us for a while, always fun to say hi to my favortie prankster...    all in all, a very fun show.

*1st time

That's right, that year they fooled around w/ showtime all three Greeks. Messed with the sleep routine. After those & Eugene, no way was I driving 20+ hours to Colorado. A  WA friend said to come up for Snoqualmie but I was tired out.

That one apparently had some logistical fuckups where they had only one shuttle-bus from remote lot to venue. Many people missed a good amount of the show.

only heard them once at Virginia Beach so very grateful the recordings exist.

My first time seeing P+F is still my favorite. A show or two after Warren & Derek joined and Kimock was out. The jams just totally blew me away. I never expected to see Darkstar, Unbroken Chain and H>S>F in the same show, it just exceeded every expectation and was a great night in the Burgh.

3-10-17...

That Shittsburgh '99 show was my 1st Phil show as well, next night @ Penn St was equally Magical. As for the fall '01, Louisville was a good Shoe but the shows before/after were actually better, in particular St Louis 11/9, Columbus 11/12 (venue SUCKED tho), & Buffalo 11/13.  But that's how great that fall '01 tour was . . .

My first Phil show outside of GD...

You people.

11/10/99 New Haven Coliseum and the 11/13/99 Brendan Byrne Arena. That whole first PL&F tour was a revelation. And the show in Amherst with Jorma and Warren jamming with Dylan and his band including Larry, Bucky, Tony and Dave Kemper, that was a treat.

excellent show. Joan's in the lineup this time around and another snowstorm.

Love 4-4-02 with Derek. Big fan of these 'Almost Q' shows too with Chimenti & Neal Casal. https://soundcloud.com/quinfolk/sets/phil-lesh-friends-terrapin-4
