Phish in Berkeley

Forums:

Not a fan, Kind of have the same feeling about them as Sam Cutler but this video from a few days ago is impressive

Nothing like the Greek. No other venue puts that many people so close to the stage. Red Rocks for the views and the magic of the place, but the Greek for the intensity of an indoor show out side in a residential neighborhood with views of SF.

Fun clip, thanks for posting.

The person who filmed that was in an ADA section, exactly where I ended up for the 2nd set of that show. I was certainly sitting right next to that person when I got there, so it's fun to see from the same angle.

I absolutely, endlessly love watching a crowd, and there is nothing like a jam band crowd (maybe the crowd is the best descriptor from that other thread about what defines a jam band). It doesn't matter to me if I like the music or not, when a crowd is locked in and grooving like that I can watch it all day.

Crowd watching is especially fun at Phish shows because of their avalanche of lights that are constantly swirling around the venue. I know everyone loves big light shows, but I find lights blasting into my eyes to be extremely distracting, so especially at Phish shows I always find a spot to the side, which makes the crowd the show, which is always far out.

This is just the type of video I try to show to people who want to bag on a particular band or jam bands in general. I always say, "You don't have to like the music, but how can you not appreciate that type of joyous energy?"

Just a little rock 'n roll.

i fucking ADORE phish

yup

i said it

and stand by it

One of the greatest things in my life over the last 15 years is being shown the Phish Light and getting on the Phish Bus!! Absolutely AMAZING band!!  I was as heavy of a Deadhead as it gets for many years and still see LOTS of Phil shows.  If you haven't been shown the Phish light yet, there's still time. Put your pride aside and discover the wonders of nature swimming all around you!!!!  We are among the luckiest people on earth to have been alive and able to appreciate and get to see and listen to both the Grateful Dead and Phish!! This band gets it!..... can you?!!!

Aside from TA's playing my favorite thing about them is no Dead covers.

Same reason I liked Ghost Light.

is it just OK if I don't like it?

I tried.

it's just like the whitest music on the planet.

Of course it's OK!

There are countless people who don't like the Grateful Dead as well. And that's OK too!

What is white music?

My wife's all about lyrics and didn't dig them at first but she's come around on the later songs including the ballads.

They jam!

I just got back at 4:30 AM this morning from three nights of Phish at the Hollywood Bowl.

Had such an amazing time. I didn't fuck w/ parking and everything went smoothy and people were really awesome.

The Hollywood Bowl is such an amazing place for a show or three. It made up for not getting Greek theater tix.

Phish is the best live thing going these days, easily!

Anyone else go?

White music is when the audience is white? I dont fucking know.

Miles Davis was bugged his later music was enbraced by white audiences.

Its a shame about the labels

The Internationale unites the human race?

I dont know shit about fuck.

(thats a line from Ruth in Ozark)

that aughta get some motherfucking blue lines
