PLF and KDTU in the TXR backyard 7/15

Hmmmm....

Good friends, Molo is back, not your family band, bring on the horn section!  I think this should be good.

Bring back the TXR sbd thumb drives!

I'm in.

Great day in the park with 4 sets of music in the hot sun (and Karl Denson was on stage for all 4!)... that dude is amazing and had by far the most interesting voice of anyone on stage (I'm actually not a fan of any of the other singers, so it was a welcome relief to have someone of his caliber singing at least some of the songs).

Among the many KDTU songs (that I don't know), they also played really good versions of One Way Out and Whippin' Post during their sets.  This band is top notch and I would highly recommend checking them out if they play near you.

Phil's 1st set closed with a rippin' West LA Fadeaway (KD on vocals and sax), and then in the heart 2nd set they played a smokin' long Can't You Hear Me Knockin' (of course KD killed the sax solo).... those were the highlights of the day for me.

The Brokedown encore brought it all to a nice close.  It was especially nice to hear Phil and MOLO doing their thing together one more time... at this point I'm never sure how many more times I'll get to hear them play together, so I definitely tried to savor the moment (and very glad I decided to GO TO THE SHOW!)

Thanks for posting this thread, Judit, I would have missed the show otherwise.  If anyone comes across a setlest and/or recordings, please post them.

Hope there's a showreel of this somewhere by the time I get to work.

Still looking for a recording of Phil & Karl Jan 30th 2018 grate room show. Any help appreciated????

Karl kills it on West LA Fadeaway

I like Karl Denson and have yet to see him play with Phil, but I went north to see a better bassist by the name of Victor Wooten with lots of other top notch musicians.  Phil's lineups suck these days.  I dont care to see Graham Lesh, Stu Allen, Holly Bowling, Jennifer Hartswick, Ross James, John Kadlecik or any of the other bar band hacks that have been making up the majority of lineups.  My money is best spent elsewhere unless Phil puts a real lineup together.

 u bitch and moan.about line-ups  and u haven't even seen Phil and Denson together....hi-larious.....

Thanks for the review Hall, I would love to hear that if a sbd was ever to turn up.

Tissues to PLF and KDTU in the TXR backyard 7/15 thread...

STAT!!!!!!!

this was the first Phil show I was disappointed to have missed in almost 2 years.

i would have been there for sure if I wasn't going to ry cooder this coming weekend and had gone to primus a couple weeks ago.

here's hoping a full setlist and some recs surface and that Phil puts together a lineup as good, or even better, sometime soon!

Nice poster!

Phil’s set list anyone?

I did the death ride the day before, so things were a bit of a blur, but here's what I do remember for Phil's sets (def not complete)...

opened with: Here Comes Sunshine

Unknown song (to me) sung by one of the wiminz.

He's Gone

Jack Straw

West LA Fadeaway  (to close the 1st Set)

Set 2:

Shakedown Street

I Know You Rider

Can't You Hear Me Knockin'

China Cat Sunflower

Franklin's Tower (to finish the 2nd)

Encore:

Brokedown Palace

Was Phil bombing up that 'can't u hear me knockin' chorus?

Thanks!

It's probably best I wasn't at that show.

Diesel bringing saxy back on top of that molo/Phil rhythm section could have potentially prompted me to perform a vaguely sexual act in my intoxicated state.

i don't want to end up exposing myself to holly bowling or something, that wouldn't b good for anybody.

Thank you for your restraint.

No, Thank u for the support!

First time I had been up there in a while and was not at all disappointed. Nice iteration of Phil and Friends. ROCK ON PHIL!

No all songs played, Help/Slip were skipped.php97EZLrAM.jpg

Thanks Peak, very nice looking set lists

Thanks for the setlist bailout, Pete, and good to see ya Sunday... havablast on your Sierra trip!

Hey Timmy, it's good to see you've finally learned what is such a basic, obvious & simple fact. Good for you.

We learn as we go.

Hey Mully, good to see you there at Terrapin. I ended up with your lighter. I know it's yours because it says David Nelson Band with the band's logo emblazoned on the side.
