Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.  

There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.



And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.

So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.  

This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.

And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?' If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

"Follow the money" is a very useful research tool  (no-bid contracts, insider trading, donations vs favors given, etc)

Take that oil pipeline.  CNN talked about the environment, FOX talked about jobs....   but if you follow the $, you discover that the oil was being moved by Warren Buffets trains, while the Koch bros wanted to move it with new pipeline(s).  Jobs are about the same, the risk to the environment about the same, really comes done to who gets the contract, makes the profit, donates to congress, etc. 

Wasn't the Gulf war(s) about securing middle eastern oil lands for Halliburton to develop?  Who got all the no-bid reconstruction contracts?  Security Contracts?  Shipping contracts?

How about WW1,  where the British took over the Ottoman empire and were the first to put in oil wells shortly thereafter.  The major bankers (JP Morgan, Rothchilds, etc), had already decided the car was going to win over the train, and we needed oil!  Next you've got WW1, the World Bank, IRS, Federal Reserve, etc (a lot happened in a few years).  

The great depression of 1893-96?  The nation backed it's currency on gold / silver (Bimetallism), and rich people bought out the bullion until the Gov. ran out (Sherman Silver Purchase Act), bankrupting us, and led to the worse defeat of a democrat in history (Cleveland).  The Rothchilds and JP Morgan had to bail us out.  Andrew Jackson I believe was the last president to kick those bankers out, likely the only real decent thing he did, lol.  Meanwhile, the invention of dynamite in 1898 created a new wave of lode mining that produced a shitload of wealth, many extremely dangerous jobs, and the creation of the first unions, Wobblies (Industrial Workers of the World), made up primarily of railroad, timber, mining, and fishing workers, who had very high injury / mortality rates, with no compensation to worker or family

I say scrutinize both sides equally, often, intensely, and for the same reasons...  

if you have a heart, it's pretty easy to like Bernie, Biden's an old school grabby democrat, and Trumps a fucking traitor that's not only dumber than dogshit, but deserves the constant shamey finger.  But folks with stocks want a corporatist whether they'll admit it or not (every president before Trump).  If you want change, then you need someone outside the system...  but the system is set up to crash if someone like that gets in, and support quickly wanes for a president if the stock market crashes, as I imagine would happen if Bernie got elected (remember oil embargoes under Carter, a sneaky way for the right to undermine him).

Step 1

Step 3

Beat eggs in a shallow bowl and set aside.

Step 4

Mix bread crumbs and 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese in a separate bowl, set aside.

Step 5

Place flour in a sifter or strainer; sprinkle over chicken breasts, evenly coating both sides.

Step 6

Dip flour coated chicken breast in beaten eggs. Transfer breast to breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs into both sides. Repeat for each breast. Set aside breaded chicken breasts for about 15 minutes.

Step 7

Heat 1 cup olive oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat until it begins to shimmer. Cook chicken until golden, about 2 minutes on each side. The chicken will finish cooking in the oven.

Step 8

Place chicken in a baking dish and top each breast with about 1/3 cup of tomato sauce. Layer each chicken breast with equal amounts of mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, and provolone cheese. Sprinkle 1 to 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese on top and drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil.

Step 9

Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is browned and bubbly, and chicken breasts are no longer pink in the center, 15 to 20 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
