Pope Francis

Forums:

Not a fan of the Roman Catholic Church by any means, but this Pope seemed to embrace Jesus' teachings on compassion and taking care of the poor, oppressed, and downtrodden more seriously than any other Pope in a long time.  Wish him well and hope the replacement shares some of his more progressive views.

I hate and despise the catholic church. Thoroughly.  But he does seem to have a few redeeming values. Unlike any of his predecessors.  And most of his flock.

Full disclosure: I'm a recovered Catholic and ex-altar boy, so I'm a spectator, not a participant. That said, I think Francis has done a pretty good job of trying to live up to his namesake by speaking truth to power, but he has had some stumbles along the way. And even if you despise the Church, you should be able to see that the current Pope is a whole lot better than his Nazi predecessor.
