Best recruiting plan the armed forces ever had

Supreme court shot down eviction moratorium.

Been that way ever since people started chucking spears at each other.

< recruiting plan

Desperation's a hell of a motivator.

Out of college, money spent
See no future, pay no rent
All the money's gone, nowhere to go

Systemic Racism

Finished the new Cocaine Cowboys on Netflix.

Cartels love the impoverished too. They make great tools mules for good times ahead.

If it was up to the Republicans, not 1 Afghan refugee would step foot in America and be resettled.  The majority of them go to church and profess their faith to Jesus; however, their actions don't align with his teachings.

^ agreed

I got a " Jesus Teaches Liberal Values " bumper sticker on my car. I can see how it infuriate the repbs from my rearview.

my friend in high school was given the option of prison or military. and he came from a family with $$$$$

so it ain't just poverty

there are all kinds of circumstances

what they really love are recruiting the kids in places where woefully underfunded education is a thing

because ignorance is also a helluva weapon to use against a human

Raz my stickers include USNavy, POW/MIA, BLM, & Eagles superbowl win over boston

so everyone can be confounded or bent equally

I believe John Jerome Garcia joined the Army to avoid a "joyriding without permission" rap.

Luckily they just sent him to the Presidio instead of 'Nam.

jlp mine include Don't Tread On Me (fuck the teabaggers for hijacking that one), Pow MIA, Our Lady Of Guadalupe, Wolf, Tiger, Dancing Bears, Marley's One Love, United We Stand Divided We Fall, Cover Art To Cats Under The Stars, Blessed Are The Peacemakers, and the Statue Of Liberty. I see heads exploding all the time.

Coolest thing I've seen was once I was stopped at a light and these 2 young Hispanic girls pulled up behind me,, noticing Our Lady they both crossed themselves at the exact same time and started saying a prayer. Love is real NFA

Hanging from from rearview mirror is a crucifix and a red poppy and a blue poppy tied together. Thank vets always.

There is definitely a difference from a kid fucking up and having to choose the military over jail vs. poverty and the poor school district in areas were poverty is prevalent. Poor areas have less of a tax base and therefore have bad schools, another systemic problem. Kids get poor schools little education and it all limits their means to escape poverty. This country will never be all it can be until this is fixed by the government and the communities of this country. Uneducated children leads to increased crime and low self worth.

Yup.

get my new poppy every year <3 pow was my father's thing always, ditto poppy

what is the blue one about?

also after having been a don't tread on me gal have learned it is indeed a racist ideal, so no mo fo me

<<what they really love are recruiting the kids in places where woefully underfunded education is a thing

Bingo

The blue one's are for the DAV,  Disabled American Veterans.

When I 1st started giving to them at local parks and fairs, eventually the veterans hospital in west haven (not far from the Westville Bowl +  Stowes Seafood that I love), it was all WW2 vets. Then as they passed on it was Korean vets. Now even the Korean vets are almost all gone,, so it's mostly Nam guys with a few of the Iraq + Afghanistan vets. Giving $ is only so gratifying, the real pleasure I get is from talking to these men. Most are the hottest shits you'll ever meet. They appreciate the face time almost more than the donations.

They always ask 'me, when did you serve' ? I kinda look the conservative right wing soldier type I guess. If they only knew how liberal pacifist I am,,,, ahh they'd still like me. I talk their talk - lots of vulgarity mixed in with appreciation of their history . Always say ' hey thanks ' to a vet, they deserve it.

jlp you got me interested in that DTOM symbol, so I had to look that shit up. It started with Ben Franklin, and compared to some other founding fathers, he was pretty damn cool. Calling its roots racist may be somewhat of a stretch. There's a big difference between a volunteer indentured servent,,  -- Indentured servants were men and women who signed a contract, also known as an indenture or a covenant, by which they agreed to work for a certain number of years in exchange for transportation to Virginia and, once they arrived, food, clothing, and shelter,,,, and forced slavery. I'd sign and work to get a better deal than I'm getting now.

PS - Thanks for making me exercise my gray matter.

Yeah Ct born + bred, my whole family. Condolences for your dad, he sounds like a hell of a good man. Sorry I couldn't have met him, I didn't start visiting there till around 2013 when I first gave a ride to a vet friend of mine for some treatments. Good men in tough spots at them VA hosps, the least you can give em is a little time to chat.

My dad passed in 77 at the VA hospital. WW2 Navy. Navy men are awesome.

Thanks for that kind offer but I wouldn't want to put you out, and I don't really know anything about it.

But if you're reeeeeeally feeling it and you can't resist,, I'm a 2-27-59 kinda guy.

Sorry for the late response but I somehow spaced this thread out.
