So I found an interesting autobiography at the local 'Dollar Tree' the other day. All Or Nothing by Jesse Schenker.
It chronicles his lifestorm as a wealthy Jewish kid who evolved from a crackhead/junkie into an award-winning NYC Chef.
Interesting dope tales interlaced with his Food obsession and unique interpretations of French/Spanish/Asian fusion cuisine.
Couldn't put it down; read all 250 + pages yesterday & today.
Dude won an 'Iron Chef USA' contest and still runs restaurants in Flatiron district and Oyster Bay.
Check your local Dollar Tree for a copy

I had pals in Eugene who(m) went through the Lane County College culinary program and worked restaurant jobs.
Some evolved into other University degrees and careers and others dropped dead. Their collective tales spoke of many addictive types within the restaurant industry; booze, dope, sex, gambling.
Suppose you could say the same thing about the roofing or sheet-rock trades, but those folks said the Kitchens are full of Fiends.
