Primus Sucks

Forums:

Saw Primus last night at the Edgefield and it was an especially good show.   Raw, loud, and funky.  Seen them before and was just like ok but they were on fire last night.  One of the better rock shows I have seen this year.  And a lot of sound for just three guys.

Coheed and Cambria was one of the openers.  Never heard or seen them before, but they sounded a lot like Rush (and Faith No More on some songs).

Guerilla Toss was the first opener.  High energy punk/alternative.  Seen them last winter opening for Karina Rykman in a small theater in our neighborhood.  So it was good to see them playing to a much bigger crowd.

Anyone know who's playing drums with them now?

I believe it is Herb Alexander, who rejoined the band last year.   His third stint in the band.

I first heard of Tim "Herb" Alexander on Michael Manring's 1994 album "Thonk".  Pretty great record, containing a few solo bass pieces and some raging ensemble fusion with Steve Morse making an appearance.   Check it out!

Caught one of the first shows of this cobill tour in Redding.

pretty standard setlist but a little jammy and well executed.

didn't dislike Coheed as much as I feared but coulda done without them, just meant higher ticket prices and Les primus.

guerilla toss was good live, never really been able to connect with their studio stuff

They've been putting out some nice posters during the tour also....
