Protect and Serve

"Not all cops..."

A new POS thread.

Would have been grate if he went out with the "perp" and his car was up on blocks.  Once again, the comment section delivers.

Only the best!

They serve and protect the rich. Just like the military serves and protects the corporations that run our gov't.  Probably not going to change any time soon.

Our military plays a large part in "protecting" the world's oil reserves and the people whom control it. Throw in some narcotic flow for a little extra gravy.

The US military is essentially the largest and best equipped police force in the world. It also happens to be rife with cover-ups, sexual assault, white supremacy, and all the other ills. It also has a pretty nasty record of killing brown people.

wow brian

it kind of sounds like the perfect place to potential recruit policemans from

Do cops get recruited, or are they drawn to the power position?

Why is it that all cops are bad, but not all military are bad?

a little of both, i think

who said that?

There are tons of parallels between the police and military. The whole "ACAB" thing is based on the premise of guilty by association. Even a cop with good intentions is bad because they voluntarily joined a force that is inherently racist, abuses power, etc. The premise is that it's impossible to be good in that situation.

I really don't agree with that, at all. There are good cops. Why can't we look at it like the military? Okay, there are pieces of shit in there, and they can do some really fucked up stuff,  it we don't say that all soldiers are bad.

These days it may be more comparable to 'not all GOP'rz are racist but it seems like the vast majority of racists are GOP'rz'

... Because the cops don't need you, and man, they expect the same...

Yeah i guess I'm not really following.

Hell yes there are extremists in the military. Tons of them. White nationalists, whatever. Every flavor. It's the perfect place for them to hide out. That's exactly what I'm agreeing with.

otherwise except for a ton of harumphing and calling each other Sir; apples and oranges

Separately, don't you think it's odd that the Jan 6th commission hasn't addressed that exact thing (oath keepers etc serving right this very minute in the military or in law enforcement) ? Not a single mention?

There has been a healthy pipeline supply of law enforcement officers directly out of/from the military for at least 20 years now. Many are too accustomed to hand-to-hand direct combat for civilian application and at least need(ed) some time and re-training before that transition. Throw in the nationwide militarization of police forces and emboldened criminals at large and it has been an ongoing tinderbox.

Being a realist, I don't find it odd. It's a can of worms that I really don't think they want to open.

I have 2 gym friends who are ex military. The dude who was in the Air Force said that at his base there was a zero tolerance policy for white nationalism, to tbe point where they weren't allowed to have shaved heads. The other guy was elite Special Forces, and he said that he was surrounded by Neo-nazis, who openly flaunted it.

The Special Forces guy was blown up in tbe Battle of Mogadishu. He was in a coma for weeks, lost 4 of his platoon, and came out both physically and mentally fucked up. He's the nicest guy, and hated everything Trump stood for. In his words, he served for freedom and democracy, and Trump was the antithesis of that.
