I remember seeing somewhere that there is a section up near the balcony where you also have access to the floor. Is that the Skybox seating or the Orchestra Left / Right section.
With recently having knee surgery, I am definitely going to need a seat to rest, but would also love to be able to go down to floor for a few songs if able.

Good thread. I have bad sticks too.
I was going ask how is the parking at the Capitol? Is it not recommend to drive brand new red sports car there?
I have tickets to see JGB there Friday 3/3. Yesterday I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory tract infection and have oral surgery scheduled for Thursday.
I am 90 minutes away; I would valet parking and a warm hug if I'm able to make it.
I used to work in Port Chester. I don't remember warm hugs.

The only way from any part of
The only way from any part of the balcony, including the skyboxes, is by going up and down stairs. Skyboxes are not accessible unless you have skybox tickets. Unless there are a lot of unsold balcony seats, access between the floor and balcony is controlled by wristbands. GA floor gets a wristband that allows you on the floor, and there is almost always someone checking for wristbands as you enter the floor. The idea of the wristband is to keep people from doing exactly what you want to do.

I would call the Cap box
I would call the Cap box office and explain the knee situation. There is a section on floor level that is behind the open floor GA were there are seats for people with needs. Had a friend with broken leg go to a Fhil show and they set him up in one of those seats. They will do IF available.
As for parking, we always park on a cross street just up from the Cap. Not sure of the name. It goes up hill, there's a church on one side and a big commercial bakery on the other. There's actually a small, for pay lot on the left side. We usually park on the street next to the bakery or even past it and have never had nor seen any vehicle abuse issues.

>> Handicap seats are Def the best answer
If U get there a little early, U can get a seat at the downstairs people with needs section.

Valet parking at the Cap?
Uh, who knows. I get there by train.
Dead Head: I'm shocked, shocked to find that valet parking is going on here!
Cap Parking attendant: Your keys, sir.
Dead Head: Oh, thank you very much.

Plenty of parking either on
Plenty of parking either on the street or in various lots close by. Never had a problem taking a nice car to Port Chester, you can always find an isolated parking spot over by the train station if you worry about dings and scratches.

Ro J, handicap will hook you
Ro J, handicap will hook you up with a seat if needed, phone ahead and speak to Box Office. They helped me out for a few shows when I was having severe vertigo issues and couldn't stand or be up in the balcony. The folks in handicap are very friendly and most are regulars too...a nice group of friends I go and visit when I go to a show. My issue has resolved with a good med i take now prior to attending shows.:)
...also on a foot note the overhang does muffle the sound and the bars right there make for a lot of chatter during the music, but at the time I was grateful to just be able to be there....a good time always when Phil is in the house. Good Luck and some ((( healing vibes ))) heading out to ya.

I've parked on that
I've parked on that aforementioned street with the commercial bakery, it is really the first likely street any tourist would pick as a good street to try for a parking spot.
The only caveat is it's got the firehouse between your car & the venue. All traffic stops when they roll out a truck.
If your legs are too achey to walk a few blocks, park over at the Hilton and take the shuttle bus right to the venue door. It's a sprawling rural-ish location with lots & lots of parking.
