Raise your hand if you think Donald Trump was the worst thing to ever happen to the United States of America

Forums:

And you can also raise your hand if you're proud to be a Republican

Hell you can even raise your hand if you're changing your stance on gun control and why the fuck we need so many fucking guns in the United States

I don't really care if they're fun to shoot

45 was a symptom of the problems of America.

Those who cannot understand this doom us all to relive it.

Did Trump do anything that could put him behind bars? When will that happen?

Sadly, it's a dead heat with Junior, who made hundreds of thousands of innocent lives, including children, go away in the Mid East with his lies about atom bombs, uranium & mushroom clouds.

boomers are/were the worst thing to ever happen to our planer. drained more resources from mother earth then any other generation in human history.  baby and bath water thrown out, mother fuckers.

Senility's a bitch! My Dad has it and my mother isn't far behind.

Oh plenty of horrorshow in the past.

Orangeman revealed just how easy and fast things can devolve into least common denominator.

Leaders should attempt to raise the boats, as above so below, not literal lead to gold but the quest to elevate.

Mar-a-Lago Mussolini pandered/panders to the opposite: fear, hate, white victimization, anti-intellectualism, anti-expertise, anti-science.

Basically for no reason save lining his pockets.

Oh and guess who isn't a boomer?

Margie Three Names, Lauren Boebert, Josh Hawley, Matt Gaetz...   The mills are now the largest group, don't worry the next crew will tar and feather you.

I really never want to hear, see, or think about that person again, but objectively speaking, James Buchanan was worse.

Trump came to age in a day of constant indignation and a 24-hour media fueled cyclone that ignites people's fear and hatred, on an hourly basis.

BUT, it's easy to ignore tweets and not be enraged. It really is. If you look at the actual damage, quite a bit of it is self inflicted. It's a shared disaster.

Ronald Reagan wreaked havoc on our society. The war on drugs, trickle down economics and the me-first Gordon Gecko mentality that became part of our mainstream culture.

George Bush is a war criminal who should have been hanged, along with his cronies. Same with Nixon, who killed hundreds of thousands of people, including civilians and children, with the greatest of ease.

So, no.

Christopher Columbus started the downhill slide imo.

George bush is a beautiful painter and your hurtful words are currently being deleted from my cpu

Also aiq speaks truth, I probably will not look forward to tarring and feathering as a kink so am trying to blend in so as to not rustle up the crypto fascists too strongly

Unfortunately there are plenty of fine crypto fascists ready to roll, on both sides

Tune into WTJU's annual fantastical bizzaro phone-a-thon curated by actual wonderful human DJs instead of the braindeath of the outrage cycle. That's all this namastehole can do.

George W. Bush Debuts New Paintings Of Dogs, Friends, Ghost Of Iraqi Child That Follows Him Everywhere

https://www.theonion.com/george-w-bush-debuts-new-paintings-of-dogs-frie...

I nominate Rupert Murdoch

Remember when you made fun of how much golf Obama was playing?

That was cool .

Terrible president.  But I think our absence on the world stage has made our partners realize how important our country is to them.

So, was he the worst president; definitely.  Was he the worst thing that ever happened to the USA?  Civil War far worse

Rush Limbaugh much worse. Made it okay to lie to a radio audience every day.  Did more damage to the environmental movement that be calculated.  His vitriolic rhetoric spread like a fire everywhere.  I'm getting angry thinking about him so I'm done

45 was a symptom of the problems of America.

Those who cannot understand this doom us all to relive it.

It boggles my mind that so few actually realize this. Truth be told, the arrogance of the most vocal of the left is probably the #1 reason for the rise of 45 and his supporters. The Zone provided a good example of that for years. Any group of people who get told that they are "stupid" ad infinitum will ultimately rebel. I am not leaving out the vocal right who put down the left in this. It has happened on both sides for a long time now. Rather than discuss how one side of an argument is better than the other, these what should be civil debates start out with calling a person out for subjective idiocy. I can only hope that we have not progressed to a non-debate death-spiral of name calling and we will never be able to break.

I don't disagree that Trump was a symptom. I do tend to disagree with the "problem" that the far left attributes it to, the Democrats. That's just one of many things that led to Trumpism, and it's not the biggest and most pivotal.

The worst thing to ever happen to the United States of America? I thought that slavery thing was pretty bad.

I think Trump, Jones, Flynn and Putin created the covid virus in a lab. They wanted to overthrow democracy, replace it with fascism, and install martial law

^^^ You might be right.  One thing for sure , Trump had the virus built in China because he has all his products made there. He never cared about bringing jobs home.

One could probably say there were more significant events in USA History;  for example WWII,  Korean War, Vietnam invasion,  The Civil War. I could go on,  but most folks here slept through History class.

I get that a lot of people here are in High-School or have the tiny mind of Teenagers,  but seriously.

Rump was a Bad TV Show celebrity installed for PR and Bankruptcy process.  What else did he ever do ?

All you people who obsessed over Rump for 4-5 years;  you're just mentally ill.  Hey, at least the Kushner admin. didn't invade Iraq or Afghanistan.

I still blame Jerry Springer.

^How do you feel about Morton Downey jr.?

The worst thing to ever happen to the United States of America?

white people

>>>Truth be told, the arrogance of the most vocal of the left is probably the #1 reason for the rise of 45 and his supporters.<<<

lol

wow

tell us some more truths please?

Otherwise for me it's a toss-up between chattel slavery and native genocide.

Bush had a half nude composition of him in the shower. Who knew he was so risqué? Bush still never brought up on an unjust annihilation of Iraq with falsified evidence given to the public by the American government. But who gives a shit, right? Anyways, teddy rosevelt literally led the charge on a genocide that was far larger than hitlers. Most Presidents have been racist old white guys so Trump was really a surprise, to be honest.

T was the best thing to ever happen for Russia:

Killing the Iran nuke deal allowed Iran to resume almost all of its operations (enriching uranium, increasing its stockpile x8, cutting is ready time in half), all with the help from many Russian Biz

Killing the treaty with the Kurds allowed Russia to take over critical areas, and again, more $ for Russian biz as a result (same for Turkey)

That huge arms deal with the Sawdis escalated the war / murder / starvation in Yemen

N. Korea was able to resume it's nuclear program

He launched a costly trade war with China, where China adapted and retaliated, hurting American biz / farmers / etc

His immigration policy made it much more difficult for our biz to recruit the best talent from around the world (my neighbor, and OSU professor, got deported as soon as his term teaching ended)

And of course, he's directly responsible for over half a million dead Americans, due to his refusal to share the truth about Covid when it started, giving our reserves of PPE's to China in Feb, right before it got bad in the states, eliminating the virus center in China (blanking the name at this time), right before the pandemic started, etc

Could go on, but so can you....  the dude was nuts!

Truth be told, the arrogance of the most vocal of the left is probably the #1 reason for the rise of 45 and his supporters<<

Fuck that noise.

yeah bernie supporters brought trump upon the nation....

EYE ROLL....

The far left blames it on the centrists. The centrists blame it on the far left. Neither is correct, and both are a blame game that overlooks the real issues.

the real issue is the corporate class has been fucking the entire populace for decades while both sides bicker and fight with themselves over all the other bs.

Yes turtle.

Bk the so-called moderates blame the "far left" for everything because in the midst of this deathmatch to maintain the political center, they're too busy to see their own politics slowly, consistently, being sucked to the right...

I wonder how many zoners have ever read the Powell memorandum? Heard of it?

I've read it, Bss, and I've used it in the classroom too.

Nice. Spit some Lewis Powell for the zone please, mike.

Well, in a way, if it wasn't for Ralph Nader, we wouldn't be where we're at today.

Alright. I mean that's quite a twist, but then in the same way, if not for Powell we might've already been where we are right now 40 years ago...

I am enjoying the perspectives and contributions from all our fellow Zoners

history matters as do ethics and common sense

wars are bad

greed is bad

The dumbing down of the populace is horrific and everyone being so biased is just not right

and yes Rush Limbaugh owns a chunk of this

tbh  it's pretty cool to see that no one is yelling at each other

Powell was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1972-1987. Just before he was appointed to the SC, he wrote a confidential memo for the US Chamber of Commerce, in which he argued that US business was under attack by forces on the Left, and most notably, Ralph Nader, and also asserted that Big Business needed to organize an aggressive, pro-business counter-attack, which they did. It's been downhill ever since for pretty much everyone who relies on a paycheck to get by, and especially the US working class.

That's a really concise summary, but I think it gets to the heart of it. We didn't get to where we're at today by accident.

^How about Friedman?

Or Morton Downey jr?

MIlton Freidman is definitely a piece of the puzzle, OCLT, but Morton Downey Jr?

fucking chamber of "commerce"...

^^Joe Buck blames Springer, I say there is no Springer without Downey jr!

> fucking chamber of "commerce"

The Chamber of Commerce wouldn't have so much juice, Turtle, if people could stop buying every shiny and non-shiny object that gets dangled in front of them.

Edit: Gotcha, OCLT. It was the mixture of economics and trash TV (a redundancy, I know) that threw me.

Before that, Powell was a bigwig corporate attorney, and also an executive on the board of Philip Morris. (Separate discussion, but this is also a big reason why cigarettes *didn't cause cancer* for so many years..) Nader's work on the corvair (ultimately a consumer's rights issue) sparked the impetus in Powell that American capitalism was under attack, and that "socialists", (or anyone to the left of lassiez faire capitalists, really) was a terrorist guilty of trying to undermine the country, economically. He recruited senators and CEO's with his manifesto, and Nixon appointed him to the Supreme Court.

*This manifesto also basically became the birth certificate to neoliberalism *

(the first time Nixon tried to appoint him he turned it down because he made too much money in business)

Speaking of Nixon, isn't it interesting that Bernie Sanders' ("far left") views on healthcare mirror that of some republican presidents like Nixon or Eisenhower more closely than some centrist type democrats currently?

By "interesting", I assume you mean "disturbing".

Yes! That's precisely what I mean about the "center left's" rightward shift.

And any American here who has read a history book like edwards has knows that a guy like Bernie ("far leftist") is really more closely aligned as a classical/centrist liberal type, in the vein of president Roosevelt (The decent one).

Hell, Nixon created the EPA!

anyways the real impact of the Powell memo and his influence over corporate laws in this country led to a redoubling of effort by big business, this time with the full backing of the congress. Effectively this has harnessed the two parties together into a capitalist establishment, the only coherent alternative to which is really socialism.

Nixon always retained some of his Quaker sensitivities, and held quite a few socially liberal views. He planned on bringing them to fruition in his second term.

He was still a piece of shit.

> any American here who has read a history book

And, depending on which history book you might have read, you might also know that individual income tax rates could go as high as 90% for the richest US citizens in the 1950s, and corporate tax rates could be as high as 50% in the late 1960s.

Downey was a deadbeat. "Fired" as a customer for not paying his car service bill.

...it seems as if there's a direct correlation between people who had better things to do than east coast Jerry tour and those that buy into the notion that Biden received 81 million votes.

I'm wondering if there's any interest in purchasing the Brooklyn Bridge...possibly on an installment plan.

eat shit, bry, then gargle with liberal piss.

Bryen I'm not allowing myself to insult anyone but you really don't need or want any feedback Or give a shit

mine are not insults... just suggested activities.

My guess is that less than 1% of people who did JGB tour actually believe that Trump won in 2020.

You have completely lost your mind my friend
