Rare DSO show in PA last night

Forums:

Rob Eaton sat out this weekend's shows at Bear's Picnic Festival (In bumfuck, PA) due to back problems, and last night the band did all Jerry tunes instead. Two full sets.

An unexpected treat for the crowd. When Jeff Mattson channeled Jerry just doing "Jerry bands" stuff, it was some of the best DSO I've heard. Especially when the bass player gradually switched from the more typical Phil "melodic" approach to the lanky John Kahn sound.

Barraco said it was a rare treat for the band, too.

(One drummer, and Lisa Mackey sang Donna parts for 70s Jerry and female backups for 80s/90s JGB.)

It was outdoors in a small clearing surrounded by trees -- at a small town (population 300?) fairgrounds in the middle of nowhere an hour west of Harrisburg -- and their PA sounded amazing.

It was also the buggiest show I've seen -- swarms of flying insects in the lights made it look like a raging blizzard and they had to bring out fans to blow the bugs off the instruments and the musicians.

I prefer my DSO well done.

We saw 2 nights of this version of DSO in Jay Peak, VT a few yrs ago.
Was honestly refreshing without Eaton/Bobby presence.

Bear's Picnic has been around longer than GOTV, and apparently is still going!

Sweet for Ben & Kim heart
