Remembering Guy Clark, with Tamara Saviano, Shawn Camp, Chuck Mead, and Verlon Thompson
Sat, Jan 14 from 2:00 - 3:30pm CST Music
In his forty-five Nashville years, Guy Clark wrote classics including “L.A. Freeway,” “Desperados Waiting for a Train,” and “Dublin Blues,” and forged a reputation as a gruff guru of country, folk, and Americana songwriting.
In the new book Without Getting Killed or Caught: The Life and Music of Guy Clark, Tamara Saviano explores Clark’s inspirations and motivations, and his relationships with gifted songsmiths including wife Susanna Clark, best friend Townes Van Zandt, and protégés Rodney Crowell and Steve Earle.
This conversation with Saviano will be illustrated with vintage photos and film footage, and will include songs and stories from Clark’s co-writers Shawn Camp, co-producer of Clark’s Grammy-winning My Favorite Picture of You; BR549 front man Chuck Mead; and Clark’s longtime guitarist and producer, Verlon Thompso
