Restoration of German Citizenship

My father was a German National at the time of my birth, he is now a naturalized American citizen.

One day, I was playing around on the intranet, and it seemed I could possibly be considered a German citizen, although I was born here in the USA.

So I went down to the Deutsche Consulate here on Wilshire Blvd, in beautiful Los Angeles, ca, and sure enough those guys gave me a German passport.

the only time it came in handy was to skip the lines at the airport, and it has since expired.  I actually picked up the documents last week to get it reinstated.

i need to make an appointment.

Hate to break it to you, Mark, but anti-Semitism is the new, hip thing, especially among the ultra liberal sect. It’s very real, and not very pleasant. Without getting into details, I have recently seen it close up and personal, from someone that I would have never expected it from.

For better or worse, I attribute it to “Trump’s America,” where people don’t hold back and say what they really think. What they think is that Jews are the problem.

I enjoyed my visits to Germany back when ('90's) but the Pizza was lousy.  Forget about a Cheese Steak.

However,  if you like a big Swine roast / leg / chop they really do that just right.

My thoughts of living there,  or perhaps marrying the German Girlfriend,  buffered by reality:
- No German language skills.  Sure I could learn a bit,  but it took years to learn Spanish at a conversational level.
- The Climate.  Cold in Winter,  Muggy in Summer.  Spain or Portugal seems like a better choice.
- Earning a living.  Germans are hard-working folks with skills,  degrees,  connections.  
- The Vibe.  Everyone's so uptight there.  I wouldn't ever say 'They're sooo laid back,  maaannn..."

knowing your rights is always a good thing.

I've read Ireland is pretty liberal about dual citizenship;  IIRC one grandparent born there qualifies you.

He loves going from beautiful resort city to resort city only to realize everywhere he goes there are people he believes must be illegal aliens. In each city instead of enjoying his vacation and hooking up with women who would always be hitting on him, he’s pre-occupied with getting illegal aliens. After doing his investigation at the end of the episode he’ll discover that the people he thought were illegal aliens were actually hard working American citizens. He’ll give a speech about how he was wrong to judge people by the color of their skin and not the content of their character and that shit. 

Then, in the next episode, it happens all over again, but in a different place. We could probably squeeze a good 20 episodes out of that.
