Return To Office

Forums:

So Gavin just announced that all state employees have to be in office four days a week. My guess is that this is to make it look like he isn't giving into to Trump when the feds tie all federal funding to return to work. That and it's a way to force people to quit because there are most likely more cuts coming beyond the 8% that was already announced.

Many agencies don't have the room to bring everyone back because they were explicitly told that whatever policy they wanted to enact they could, which meant billions in savings in giving up leases.

Anyway my dog is going to be pissed.

are the dems going to go w/ gavin or what?

he's not exactly popular within ca...and if that ain't playin' here, sure ain't gonna play in GA/PA or wherever...

Gavin is termed out he can't be Governor again and let's just say the type of people who fund presidential campaigns also just happen to be the type of people who own skyscrapers and office parks.

I left for remote work in the wake of the disastrous Covid impact on the hospital I'd been working in for 20 years. I've been doing case mgmt since remotely for an orthopedic group. If asked to return to an office setting it would be my ticket out the door. I've been looking for an excuse to exit the working world for a bit now. I'm starting to look closely at hours/days/years left here and I'm not sure I want to spend a large portion of it working

You can't canoe around an office!

Exactly!! lol my wife wants to sell up and hit the road but I'm not sure I'm ready to give up a home base. We just finished up our mortgage and have zero debt so now would be good timing

he's not exactly popular within ca

seems like for the DNC, popularity among their potential base is a secondary concern - gavin is popular enough, and more importantly, toes the DNC line to a tee. to compensate for any lack of popularity, people will be endlessly harangued about how not voting for gavin means youre destroying your democracy or love russia or whatever, and the cycle continues.

who needs true grassroots support when you have fear?

Here's the last Democratic platform. Which part of the "DNC line" offends you?

Sure looks bad compared to, say, Platform 2025.

Interesting CalPers a big CA agency just had a all hands meeting and told them they won't be complying with Newsome's order to come back four days a week. Said if four days a week was better they would have already done that. They are three days a week.

Newsome married Kimberly Guilfoyle. His judgment is suspect.

Not a huge fan but he's made a brand of himself.  I could see him doing fine in an election but in the end, I don't get the sense he's the flavor anyone wants.

he's a corporatist tool. Just the kind of douchebag the dnc loves to run.

Here is a little reality. I worked hard for Matt Gonzales -  Green Party when he ran against Gavin for Mayor of SF in 2004. This was after eight years of Willie Brown who had zero interest in being Mayor of SF and just wanted all the perks of being Mayor. I mean he ended up in pitch battles with Critical Mass bicycle rides that shut the city down and almost ended in riots. That was the Brown administration.

After eight years of that we had the chance to elect a real progressive as Mayor of SF and he was running against silver spoon in the mouth Gavin who was then and will always be the Getty heirs errand boy. His dad was their lawyer and all his business ventures were backed by them. His current wife is also an heiress he knows how hang with the .01%. It was a very close race but Gavin prevailed in the end.

This is what drives me crazy about the left narrative that if only we would run real progressives and if only the DNC hadn't tipped the scales we would all be living in a Bernie utopia when the reality is and always has been America just isn't into progressives. I can prove that because fucking SF in 2004 wouldn't vote for one over Gavin and Democrats across the country voted for Hillary over Bernie. If you can't win those races how in the hell do you think you will win a general election.

Back to Gavin. The one thing I learned watching his career is never underestimate Gavin. He has the deepest pockets backing him with the Getty money and now his wife. He can pull off the reasonable Dem like no one else. When he defied the law and issued gay marriage licenses that was one of the biggest shifts in the debate that made it possible, and now he is being accused of throwing trans people under the bus when in fact he is right that Dems will never win if they have to defend trans women playing in women's sports and paying for gender surgery for prisoners. He just did it in the most tone deaf way ever while sucking up to Charlie Kirk. I can't stand him but he is a millions times better than the Republican fascists and yes I will take a centrist dem over the clown show we have now any day of the week.

The beauty of this is that Don Jr. got to think about that every time him and Guilfoyle hooked up.

> he's a corporatist tool. Just the kind of douchebag the dnc loves to run.

And being kinda related to Nancy Pelosi hasn't helped Newsome rise above these things.

The reason Bernie did not beat Hillary was that the dnc torpedoed him at every opportunity. How are you supposed to win when your own party "leaders" are scared shitless of you?  You and others that ate their shit are the reason Bernie did not win.

Democrat Hakeem Jeffries just secured 2.5 million in DNC campaign donations from Peter Thiel and Elon Musk.

Oh shit, really? I kind of like him. How does that work?

>>>> if only we would run real progressives and if only the DNC hadn't tipped the scales we would all be living in a Bernie utopia

The center doesn't want that.  I've been have quite a few conversations with my conservative colleagues and they all want someone center.  They don't want trump and they don't want Bernie.    Gavin they will say he's just a woke liberal from Cali.
