RFK Stadium hasn't seen any action since the final MLS game there in 2017 before DC United moved to their new digs. It has been rusting away ever since, and while slated for demolition, the old coliseum in the nation's capitol still stands.
A bipartisan deal to fund an extension of the lease, that would have cleared major hurdles to having the property redeveloped to a multi-use neighborhood plan including a new stadium, was derailed by the Trump/Musk killing of the original Federal Government spending bill. It wasn't included in the stopgap version that passed.
The building that saw JFK, Richard Nixon, and George W. Bush all throw out ceremonial first pitches, hosted three Super Bowl championship NFL seasons, witnessed the majesty and brilliance of soccer legend Pelé and the New York Cosmos, and 15 Grateful Dead concerts among many other legendary events, in it's decaying ruined condition is like a new Roman Coliseum.
It was Lyndon Johnson, in the final days of his presidency in January, 1969, who signed the act changing the name to RFK Stadium
My folks didn't move us to the DC suburbs until 1973, so I missed seeing both versions of the Senators, and ended up never seeing a baseball game there, as I regrettably didn't come back to see a game there from 2005-2007 while the Nationals were building their new ballpark. I did, however, manage to see Pele play, see Joe Namath play (for the Rams after the Jets traded him), saw the seats painted white in what had been the centerfield upper deck, where Frank Howard had landed his tape-measure shots, and witnessed all the Grateful Dead shows there from 1986-1993. The 2nd night of the 1993 shows was my final time in RFK, and my final East Coast show. I was appropriately puddled, and well remember the glow as I exited the stadium.
Hope they can figure out some way forward to make good use of that land. The nation's capitol needs a suitable arena.

I'd really like to see some of these aging municipal stadiums get a new lease on life
Dodgers seem to be doing a great job of this currently
the Washington senators had their sole winning season in rfk in 1969. Ted Williams coached.
