RIP Bruno Sammartino

Forums:

Huge fan all through the early to mid 70's, earliest memory is tagging with "Handsome" Jimmy Valiant when he was "blinded by salt" thrown into his eyes by Professor Tanaka and swung wildly hitting Valiant, who switched from hero to heal.

Saw his comeback tour versus Stan "Lariat" Hansen, who broke his neck for real at MSG, won by DQ.

I remember those good old days from my early years in Philly. Chief Jay Strongbow was another of my favorites from this time. Bruno Sammartino was probably the first known name I can recall. Professor Toru Tanaka  was another.

Bruno was the good guy. He stood 4 truth, justice & the wrestling way.

My favorite wrestler was George the Animal Steele.

Bruno was a swell wrestler but he never took a bite out of the turnbuckle.

Not even once.

Bruno Sammartino headlined more Madison Square Garden cards than any other wrestler [211], including 187 sellouts.

Yeah Bruno was one of the good guys during those days. Used to watch 'em as a kid.

Those were the days of the Graham brothers, BoBo Brazil, Killer Kowalski, and Haystacks Calhoun.

Haystacks wore overalls into the ring and wore (and sometimes swung) a necklace with a horseshoe.

I guess we're getting older.

I saw Bruno vs. Superstar Billy Graham at MSG-fun stuff.
