A New Orleans native daughter.  As a kid growing up in DC, she was a part of the scenery.  An intelligent, classy presence.  I'll miss her, and appreciate what she and the other pioneering women reporters at NPR did.

I always thought the lady was top shelf first class reporting instead of the 'entertaining' talking heads that have too fucking much to say about nothing that is so called news in today's world.

Her parents both long serving in  congress when she was growing up, she really was able to explain DC.

The comment from the class act in the Oval Office?  "She never treated me nicely"

Hal Boggs and Lindy Boggs if my memory is correct ,Nod.

Absolutely class + integrity. RIP Cokie

I have to admit since the Mueller report came out I've turned off the national news. Can't fucking stand it any longer. The day in day out reporting on the catastrophe that is this prez, and watching the senate do NOTHING,  has made me turn more to music than I have in years. No more CNN, NPR, Rachel, BBC, al Jazeera,  I'm done with all of it. Till that fucking scourge is fucking gone

Jaz wins the Cokie Roberts triva prize!

Well, he spelled Hale wrong.  Not like spelling Ric Ocasek's name wrong in his RIP thread title, but still.

Did they ever find Hale up in Alaska?

When talking about her cancer diagnosis, Cokie was asked if she had gained a greater perspective on life.  She replied that she had already lost her father and a sister at young ages and didn't need any more perspective.

I'll miss her covering the GOP and Democratic conventions.

Nope.  Not a trace.   Ironically, the plane crash happened just months after emergency location transmitters became mandatory on small aircraft in Alaska.  I guess the pilot didn't get the memo:
