Yup. Saw him play once at the Continental Club. I still have a campaign sign I took off a wall when he ran for Governor......I was in Austin to see the Stones.....

Weird reading collab with Willie right now

RIP to another favorite songwriter and all around great American

RIP. A great American.

I read his 2005 book "Texas Hold ‘Em" last fall. One of a kind, that boy.

Broke the mold. Rest in peace , Kinky.

Saw him open for Cody in the 70's - with his Jewboys.

Back when I worked for an Alt Weekly we had our annual convention for all Alt Weeklies in Phoenix that year. He was our Key Note speaker. The convention was at the Biltmore in Phoenix which is a beautiful Frank Loyd Wright hotel. We were there in the summer so it was cheap.

It was a strange day for the Biltmore because along with all the lefty Alt Weekly people roaming around George W had scheduled a fundraiser at the same time so the place was swarming with secrete service, and just to add a little more weirdness the Red Hot Chili Peppers were there. Drunkenness in the hot tubs was pretty epic.

Anyway Kinky killed that day. RIP
