Uhura (1).jpg

I saw it pop up when I was reading the Bill Russell obit. Little by little my youthful memories  keep passing away.

Still get the hots for her watching the ST reruns Monday thru Friday.

RIP + Thank You Lt.

First interracial kiss on tv?

with Kirk space slut...

She boldly went where no black woman had gone before.

She was also married to Gene Roddenberry.

She also told Gene Roddenberry that she was going to quit at the end of season 1, but was persuaded by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to stay in that role during a weekend NAACP meeting she attended.

What a lovely woman and a gentle, caring soul.

>>her role as Lt. Nyota Uhura on the original TV series was groundbreaking: an African American woman whose name came from Uhuru, the Swahili word for "freedom."

She had a years-long relationship with Gene Roddenberry but wasn't married to him.

She was pretty special.
