Mary was 75. The Shangri-Las were royalty in the Girl Group heyday. Great voices and hooks made their sound, with an empowered, tough image. I liked them.

Back when I was doing community radio, I did a PSA for low-cost children's car seats.
I started the spot out with the "Look out! Look out! Look out!" from the wreck audio. Spliced to the baby crying in Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely?" and continued with his tune while I cited some statistics and info on the program. Some folks found that a little too startling and real. It DID get their attention!
