RIP Nanci Griffith

Forums:

Gone too soon. Great songwriter and a fantastic performer. I was amazed on how good she was live when I saw her a few years ago.

My ex wife, a stellar musician herself, idolized Griffith. I got to know and appreciate her music very much. Yet another massive loss.

wrong brian

lolol

???

Big fan for a lot of years. She was a staple on our radio station's folks shows and came to town many times. Was a sweetheart to meet, too. Got an autographed photo and she signed my guitar.

Was married to another great songwriter, Eric Taylor, for a spell.

Damn, SO MANY great songs. "I Knew Love", "It's A Hard Life", "From A Distance".......

Albums like "Poet In My Window" (an absolute classic), "Storms", "Little Love Affairs", "Other Voices, Other Rooms".  Oh man, what a catalog of musical achievement and artistry.

Aw, damn.  Big fan here.

First song of hers I ever heard; likely on Christine Lavin's old Sunday AM show. Hooked immediately.

Brilliant songwriter.

Wonder if she ever sang with Iris DeMent.  The Helium Honeys!

She also did what is my favorite Buddy Holly cover when she recorded Well, Alright with Holly's backing group, The Crickets.

Well, Alright - Nancy Griffith & The Crickets

i was afraid that *other* brian who also posted here became unmarried

also

(((((RIP)))))

She did sing with Iris Dement on "Other Voices, Other Rooms"

RIP, she was great and her loss stings, even though she had been off my radar for a few years...
