Roarshock Reads Point Arena Third Thursday Poetry

Forums:

I have always enjoyed sharing poetry with the Zone, and especially the readings at the West Coast Zoner Jams, which were now more than a decade ago.

The road goes on and on. I was hoping that Point Arena would have opened for live readings, but virtual does mean I can invite all of you far and wide.

That's awesome David!   Hopefully I don't need zoom to check it out.

GO ROARSHOCK!

Could not find an active link.  I guess I will watch on your youtube channel when it gets there.

That was a blast! It would have been better with MarkD in the room.

Dug it Dave. Most excellent.

Our Disco Stu?

You like pomegranates don't you.

I figure it must have been zoom only and I don't do that.

Hopefully, we will have better, shared, non-corporate platforms to broadcast from in the future. Remember not-so-long-ago when the World Wide Web began and dreams and ideas of the cyber public commons were all around? Corporate greed and money seeks to fence off cyberspace, claim ownership and set up paywalls. Yet these corporate platforms largely rely on content created by the users. I say we do use them for our own ends, and to connect with each other, but be ready to bail from any platform in an instant, or to be censored and banned by a corporate entity. Back up your important contacts and data content and be ever ready for quantum jumps to new outposts in cyberspace.

Yes, that is Disco Stu from the Zone referenced in the poem "Chairman of the World," which was inspired in part by his reported troubles with mice in his farmhouse.

Mark, thanks for watching the show. Hope to see you soon at The Show!

Why does Maximus Beast eat all the poets?

Maximus beast was a highlight, the closing poem was pretty strong too but that opening beach meditations one was my favorite.

thanks for sharing!

I am happy to be a late addition to this week's Poets of the East broadcast going on live in about an hour. Podcast available for the following week. This is not a Zoom reading!

"And we're adding a special guest from California, RoarShock a poet of extraordinay talent whose voice echoes round this tiny blue globe."

>Why does Maximus Beast eat all the poets?<

Well that's the shock ending to the poem. It sometimes elicits audience surprise and often laughter.

On another level it is a statement on a common fate of poets: to be devoured by society that does not much value poetry.

(((((Roarshock)))))

Ah yes, I was thinking the beast might be a metaphor of society, always hungry never satisfied.  Very cool!

hi Floops!
