Tonight’s ‘Morning Dew’ Broadcast from 1:00 – 3:00 AM (EDT) on 99.5 FM also Streaming Live at http://www.wbai.org will be an In-Depth 2 hours of music & interview with legendary lead Vocalist/Guitarist and Byrds’ Co-Founder, Roger McGuinn. Included in the program will be a variety of samples of his music from various Byrd’s lineups, as well as Roger McGuinn Solo material from his notable ‘Folk Den’ project.

Roger was named Jim before he joined up with Subud, which is a Groovy religion, sect, cult or whatever. McGuinn was involved in the mid-sixties.
The founder / leader of Subud was the 'Bapac' which was actually some long-dead Indonesian dude. I read one of his 'Intro' books about 30 years back, as my German girlfriend was a member of the sect, and I was interested in what it was all about.
Whatever you might speculate, they definitely had some powerful stuff going on. I only know from the Fringe effect. The members or cultists or participants do "The Latihan" which is sorta like a double dose at a 1974 show but without any doses. That's the best way I can explain it. They transcend the space/time continuum and can see the future more clearly.
Usually they get together for the group Latihan, but any Subud participant can just go do Latihan alone without the group. She said, the Females and Males are in separate groups during the Latihan meetings, or else they would all be having Sex. One time she was visiting at my Farm in the Summer and wandered off to the Stream for Latihan. Some time later she returned, spaced-out, elated, serene. No dope or booze was involved, not a trace.
So I don't know too much more about Subud. I don't belong. They certainly had something going back when. You can't just drop by and enroll, at least back then.
