Who's going to The Capitol Theatre this Saturday, Feb 4th for The Railroad Earth/TAUK  show?  http://www.HomegrownRadioNJ.org  actually has a weekly 3 hour show dedicated to RRE and related bands/genres. It's called "Railroad Earth Happy Hour", Hosted by Johnny Maj. It Airs every Thursday Night from 9:00 PM - Midnight (EST)

HGRNJ will have a table in the  lobby of the Cap, so do come by and meet some of our DJ's!

Grabbed a pair of 3rd row balcony (loge was sold out and my buddy can't stand up all night in GA).

Looking forward!  Haven't seen them since they did that return to Mexicali two-fer several years back.

I think I'm an album behind, as well.

Bluesnote you need to pick up their most recent, 'Last Of The Outlaws'. It is a masterwork.

Bump.

Waiting on my ride.

Burgers, beer and bourbon.

Then showtime.

If you end up in the sweet spot, tell Curtis and Z-man "thank you for the recordings".

Absoslutely, Slacker! "God Bless The Tapers!"

~~~~~~~
Nice to meet you, Bluesnote!
Great meeting you as well, B.
That band is just so F'n good.  Several firsts for me at this show, and not just the tunes that are new to me, being 1-2 albums behind:
Andrew (bass) singing lead.
Andy (everything) playing electric guitar and steel guitar.
John (mando, bouzouki) playing piano.  And not the more or less perfunctory piano he plays on records, but displaying big ears and serious chops.  I didn't recognize either tune, but they both broke the "usual' RRE mold.  More of a fusion thing.  And not all right hand, like a good many folks who are not primarily piano players might serve up.
Also, my buddy pointed out that Carey plays drums left-handed and right-footed.
The Cap could definitely chill with the projections, tho.
Less is more, Shapster.
cap01_0.jpgThere is always some projection-whiner.
First it is the projections, then the Estonians, and then they came for the Hüskies, but I did not complaine, as I was a Malamûte ...
And then it was the Guatemalan people, and the Labradors, eventually the Siamese Cats, aand then there were no Siamese Cats anymore.
Finally, they came to round me up,  but I hid.
Funny shit, Stu!
Bluesnote, I think piano was Skeehan's first instrument from his youth. I believe the two songs he played keys on were Tuba Mirum -> Face with a Hole. both elements of an Opus-like piece from RRE's newest album Last Of The Outlaws. The six-section "Opus" is called "All That Is Dead May Live Again." That's the section that I was referring to as their masterwork. It reminds me of the Terrapin Suite. Not stylistically but in it's wide ranging scope and passages
We had a blast at the Homegrown table. Was a great night all around. Happy to say that we were able to get 20 people in the show for free!
I'm gonna have to order LOTO.
Thanks for the info, B.
