This is a long but extremely insightful read filled with great quotes from Garcia, Lesh, Barlow, Weir and McNally.....

Great stuff.

Didja know Owlsey thoroughly dosed Monterey Pop fest....?

Thank you, Ted. That was informative and well written. I didn't know that he lived in Australia.

Bout 120 pages through Bear: Life and times of Augustus Owsley Stanley III right now. They use a lot of direct quotes from this article since it was one of the most informative he did. The book is more written like a comic book and its all kind of "he sad she says" but nonetheless very entertaining and a must read for anyone interested in the subject. It's just a lot of fun to read about the maybes and what have yous of his crazy life.

I read the book a few months ago, Timpane. My favorite takeaway was how clever Owsley's utilization of the Greyhound bus system around the Bay area was to help him with his operation.

Let me know when you get to his climate theories. I'd definitely be interested in discussing.

Owsley:

Drugz good; music good.

Diet theory bad; climate theory bad.

"Roughage is the worst thing you can put through your body," he says. "Letting vegetable matter go through a carnivorous intestine scratches it up and scars it and causes mucus that interferes with nutrition."

Will do, Mark. Might just sit down sometime this weekend and finish it up. Nice short read. Been enjoying it so far. Dude was really a mess in the best possible way.
