NOLA Jazzfest and Vegas added. Buffalo and Vancouver cancelled.

And Louisville and Vancouver

now the Ticketmaster battle begins.
Pit tickets to Buffalo+new credit card+inaccessible account(email address change)+no linked phone number=Monster headache dead ahead

Playing JazzFest on Wednesday?  That's odd.

I have mixed emotions about these guys.

I'm glad they're still out there, fer' sher', and a generation that wants to can see them.  The stadium-only thing, and I don't even wanna know pricing is another thing. I'm probably not the only one.

Dan....jazzfest website says more bands to be announced for that day. We are ALL IN.

We got into the pit for a twenty spot in santa clara.

Not sure where you expect to see the biggest band in the world anymore besides a stadium?

It's only rock and roll.

Stones in Vegas on a Saturday night sounds pretty fucking awesome. Wish I could hit that show but too far to travel for just one.

No NYC area shows!?

Too bad Vancouver isn't in the cards, but I am putting that money towards a trip to New Orleans for both weekends of Jazzfest sandwiching the Stones date on the Wednesday midweek.  The line-ups look really solid every day, and I'm curious to see who gets added to the Wednesday.  I wonder if they will have all the stages running that day, or just the Stones stage (presumably the Acura Stage)?

I've got my flights booked and just bought my festival passes.  Should be able to get in on the pre-sale on the 28th for the Stones date.

Wasn't expecting this when I woke up today!

too bad the Raiders have an away game Nov 7

We had tickets to the canceled opening night in San Diego when COVID got in the way.  Not a fan of opening nights because they need some time to lock-in.  Saw the opening of the Tattoo You tour at JFK in Philly in 1981 and that was great but saw them later that tour and they were oiled and ready.  Ronnie has been rock solid the last few tours--sober is good for him.  I didn't see any live shows on last tour but watched a few and Keith didn't look on top of his game.  Hopefully, hanging with his girls, practicing during the pandemic has helped

Re NOJF:

Fans that have purchased 3-day weekend passes, VIP packages, Brass Passes and official travel packages for the 2021 Festival as of 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 25 will be part of a limited presale opportunity.

I have tickets for Inglewood.

Be good custies.

Thanks for the tip Walstib.

@ Greaytheart.  That first Philly show in 81 was my last Stones show. Saw the GD 2 nights later. I remember the Guardian Angels protecting the subways of Philly at the time. Heavy crime time

was also at those Philly shows in '81...

Prince was added later to the tour (LA)  and was not received well Ha!

I got the 3-day passes for both weekends, so I'll check my email and set my alarm clock on the 28th, so I can hopefully get in on the pre-sale.

We should do a New Orleans Zoner meet-up.

What's the capacity of the fairgrounds? I'd be surprised if this sells out right away it being on a Wednesday.

And yes, a meet up should be set up for the eventual snub (!)..... get tix for JRAD Dave.

>>>set up for the eventual snub<<<

There hasn't been a good zone snubbing in ages.

Something to look forward to.

Now, if only we could get someone left for dead, viva will have truly made it's bones.

Doolittle-Were you at the Cap Center or Rochester War Memorial show post the Stones JFK.  I remember seeing the news that night and Weir and Brent were on the side of the stage for a bit --I think for the Journey set but they had to beat it up to Stabler Arena at Lehigh University that night for the Dead gig.  I saw the Jerry Band at Stabler earlier that year in February

Thanks for the added pressure, Lance!

We bought plane tix and made AirBnB/Hotel reservations for JazzFest when they announced it back in March (April?). Was very excited just to think about attending a live show, let alone JazzFest in NOLA and all the ancillary night shows. Since then the lid has been torn off and I almost regretted committing so much time and money to JazzFest when I really wanted to string together some Phish shows or maybe even some Dead & Slow (to see friends, mostly).

This Stones show is a game changer. Now we start our trip in NOLA with the Stones on the day we arrive and will trickle through the weekend with the final night seeing George Porter and the Rads at the Fairgrounds. Better eat 'yer Wheaties :)

@Greasyheart   I was at Cap Centre. We went to the Hotel after the show where bands that play the Cap were staying. The bar there was closed  so we left. Met the Kinks and Allmans in that bar. Had a friend who turned me on to the place. I guess the GD split soon after the show as they were to play a show in Scotland like 3 days later.

Friday B4 Halloween in Tampa, Standing on the floor once again, hope I have a lil ether left, second most seen band by me....I love em

I'm all in for the Stones in New Orleans.  I'll check with my cousins about JRAD and see if we can make it.  I've never seen them, so I'm definitely interested.

I checked ticket prices for LA and they're $250 for nosebleed seats. It looks like I'll go to my grave without seeing the Stones, and I'm okay with that.

Go there the day of and youlll get in for $25

That might be worth a drive down to Inglewood.

I'd be down for that $25 show!

Sucks, but at least he's alive.

Wow. Yes, hooray that it sounds like the legend Charlie Watts is going to be OK, but...

Have the Rolling Stones ever played a show without Watts on drums?

Steve Jordan is a great drummer who has played with Keith and is a very good choice, but can the Rolling Stones truly create the unique Rolling Stones sound without Charlie Watts?

In my experience, what has always been the secret ingredient to the one-of-a-kind funky groove that IS the Rolling Stones sound is Charlie & Keith locked in sync, and that's a sound & groove that changes between those two from night to night.

I'm a little surprised that Keith is willing to do these shows without Charlie, but money is money, and this tour is BIG MONEY, and Jordan is almost certainly Keith's choice, but I'm betting that if this turns a permanent thing Keith will be very hesitant to continue without Charlie.

I imagine that Jordan will provide a more driving groove that will probably work and make the shows nice & rockin', but I'm glad now that I'm not seeing any of these upcoming shows.

Because IMO it ain't the Rolling Stones without Charlie Watts.

Get well Charlie!

Jordan will be tighter and more energetic, but the magic Watts loose-but-rocking feel won't be there.

Softens the blow that they cancelled my city (Vancouver), and gives faint hope they will play more N American dates (including Vancouver) next year with Charlie.

i'm picky about my drummers.

No Charlie=I'm Out

Get well soon!

Will not be the same without him and I haven't seen the Stones in 40 years since Philly tour opener.. Would love one last time. But no Charlie.....

It's not the money, it's the money......

Seriously, it's just excellent that whatever was wrong with him was caught and dealt with immediately,

and that the doctor can say to a member of the Stones, "you're not going on this tour." Because of course

we have seen tragic outcomes stemming from doctors who are a bit too star fucked.

As we all know, anything that happens to anyone that's 80 can go south, fast.

I predict the Stones will do just fine this tour; I completely get what Lance is talking about in his post,

but I think at this point the rest of the band can step up enough to do the music justice. I just might go to Vegas yet....

I've always thought there was a subtle yet elemental part of their sound missing since Bill Wyman retired, but Charlie is irreplaceable.

Steve Jordan is a fucking great drummer and I'm sure the music will be fine and the shows will still be fun, but it will be the Jagger/Richards Band, featuring Ronnie Wood.

It won't be the Rolling Stones.

The X-Pensive Stones

The band opening up for the Stones in New Orleans is well worth half the price of admission that day. Stones are worth the other half.

We are all in.

Was it the Beatles with Jimmy Nicol on drums?

Wishing Mr. Watts and all the Stones the best.  This should be an interesting tour.  I'm in for New Orleans regardless, and hope that Charlie makes a speedy recovery and is able to rejoin his mates by the end of the tour.  They have a week off after the L.A. show, so perhaps that's a feasible target for his return.

In the meantime, here's a nice matrix recording of the John Fogerty & Friends performance from 5/27/89 at the Oakland Coliseum for the Stop AIDS Benefit, featuring Charlie's understudy, Steve Jordan, along with the usual suspects:

Ultra glad I didn't waste my money on those money grubbing no conscious shitheads. So much for doing it for the fans, like their Toads Place Steel Wheels tour kickoff blast I was at.

F todays gallstones.

On the eve of their US tour, the Rolling Stones will be performing next month at a private party hosted by Patriots owner Robert Kraft and his family at Gillette Stadium.

so stones nola shoe still on?

No, the show was cancelled along with the rest of Jazzfest.  The tickets are being automatically refunded for the Stones day (October 13th), and the organizers are offering refunds or a rollover to the planned regular Spring Jazzfest to ticketholders for the other days.  There is some chatter on the Stones message boards about them playing another venue like the Smoothie King Arena, the Superdome or LSU's Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, but I'm not expecting this to happen.  More likely that they take another mid-tour break or perhaps schedule another show in a part of the country that has higher vaccination and lower infection rates than Louisiana.

Personally, I'm going to shoot for seeing them next year in Europe for the 60th anniversary tour.  They're coming your way Thomas.

Herbal Dave...I received my refund for the weekend JazzFest passes, but not yet for the Stones show. Curious if you have received a refund for the Stones Wednesday gig.

I got those refunded almost immediately, Ned, before I received my Jazzfest weekend passes refund.  The Stones refund was supposed to be automatic, because they won't be making up that Wednesday date at the next Jazzfest, so there was no option to roll the ticket over like with the weekend passes.

Approximately what date was that?

OK I got a refund 8/24.

Don't think I got the weekend refund yet...

Ned, you should have received an email from Jazzfest.org.  The weekend passes were not automatically refunded.  Instead, they sent an email asking you to choose whether you wanted a refund, or if you would like them to roll your tickets over until next Spring's regular Jazzfest dates on the last weekend of April and first weekend of May.  They had a deadline you had to respond by (I think it was sometime in mid-September), or they would just roll your tickets over.  I would suggest checking through your emails.  You should have received that message from them.
