Roxy 50th Anniversary Celebration Expands With Second Neil Young Night, All-Star Compilation Album, Tribute to Bob Marley

The Horse is coming out of the barn!  First shows since Winnipeg, 2019.

Curious as to how the line-up will play out, as Springsteen has a show in Ohio on the 21st.  Will Nils Lofgren be allowed to play hooky from Bruce's tour for these two shows? If not, is Micah Nelson (Particle Kid) going to take his place?  Would Pancho (Frank Sampedro)  consider coming out of retirement?  Will they be playing music from their three recent albums, or will they try to recreate the 1973 set lists?  Do they bring in a steel guitar player to cover Ben Keith's parts?

Lots of unanswered questions, and there's more about tickets.  When do they go on sale?  How much do they cost?

Are these two shows on September 20 and 21 at the Roxy a warm-up for Farm Aid on September 23?  Will Crazy Horse be joining Neil there?  Will a full NY&CH tour follow these shows?

Questions, questions.

Still no mention of these shows on the Roxy's website.  They do list Stephen Marley's Tribute to his father Bob 0n September 24.  Those tickets go on sale on August 18 at 10 a.m.

$1,000 bucks seems outrageous to the normal Joe but it is a benefit for a good cause in a very small place. Hope they have a Nugs stream

Good questions about the second guitar player. I seriously doubt that Nils will be allowed to miss the slick, well-rehearsed, well-oiled and well-sold Bruce shows for this, and can Poncho even play anymore? I thought physical issues were the reason he had to be replaced.

If Nils or Poncho can't do it then someone from Willie's Family Band seems logical, but Micah? Can Willie's "other" kid really play? On the surface the second guitar role in Crazy Horse seems fairly straightforward without any soloing, but the particular grinding, feedbacky interplay with Neil is hugely important to the CH sound. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

As opposed to the Neil solo shows, I would love to make one of these, but even if I could get a ticket a thousand dollars is hard to justify, good causes or not.

So I guess I'm left hoping that these special Crazy Horse shows are a lead-in to more. Over the years I've seen Neil play with quite a few different electric bands and to varying degrees they've all been good, but there's nothing like Neil with Crazy Horse.

Hasn't he played with Lukas Nelson? Why would Micah be considered?

Micah lives next door to our friends. We should ask them to ask him about the gig.

One of my friends is going to both nights.

He figures he'll be just fine with one kidney...

Micah is road tested, he'll do quite well

fyi particle kid is a tongue in cheek reference to his being the "prodigal son", perhaps since before Micah could fully pronounce "prodigal". So, something of a Nelson family inside joke
