Russia Sanctions

Forums:

Obama finally gets bipartisan support on something. It looks like the Republican leadership is standing behind him.

Trumpov, not so much.

That's because Trump colluded with the Russians on the hacking

dude, i started a thread on this in the politics folder......

I guess we will just have to take the word of the FBI on this without any evidence. Same people who fed you the bs about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. People are so gullible.

people who fed you the bs about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction<<<

That was the CIA

^Yup. They are the ones saying this about Russia now. James Comey is really reliable too. We should jut take their word for it.

weird timing

Just because they BSed about WMDs, over a decade ago, doesn't mean everything is BS. They are all intelligence agencies, and info from them should be suspect,  but I'm guessing that this one is true. There has been hard data for years that the Kremlin engages in cyber shit.

Why exactly are you guessing this one is true? Just wondering, since there's no evidence.

Snowden tweeted earlier this year that NSA has the capability to track the source of such a hack. He cited Xkeyscore, a pre-Snowden secret computer system used by the NSA for searching and analyzing global internet data, that “makes following exfiltrated data easy. I did this personally against Chinese ops

^So, if they have the evidence and have easily tracked it then they should be able to show it. Makes it even more suspect.

you're absolutely right, tom, using those incredibly powerful nsa security apparatuses the feds publicized evidence in previous hacking scenarios, most notably the sony hack – they shared with the public exactly what happened.

in departing from precedent, with this alleged dnc hack, the nsa has not released any evidence, despite clearly having the security apparatuses to do so.

until that happens, until the feds abide by their own set precedent and release such evidence linking any actors to the alleged hack, i hate to say it, this remains one huge sloppy political story.

It's pretty simple. Show the evidence. The UN has chosen not do anything against Russia so it obviously they don't believe the US.

More fake news.......

Lava, if there is evidence, I imagine I will be included in the report that the Obama administration releases. I don't think McCain and Graham would have concluded it was the Russians without evidence.

i sure hope so.

till then, it realistically sounds more like a leak, and not a hack, as previous intelligence whistle-blowers have stated.

The bottom line is that the NSA would know where and how any “hacked” emails from the DNC, HRC or any other servers were routed through the network. This process can sometimes require a closer look into the routing to sort out intermediate clients, but in the end sender and recipient can be traced across the network.

Trump hates the government. That's why he ran for president.

Trump hates the government. That's why he ran for president>>>>

Expand that hate to include anything that is not white, male, rich, and Christian, he is a Repulicunt, after all.....

He loves his daughter (maybe in a triangle sort of way!) and she's a Jew.

Multiple other nations (some previous Soviet states) have come forward and publicly stated that they have also suffered political hacking by Russia in the same manner as is suspected here.

Some questions to ask yourselves:

  1. Why would they confirm this, do they have anything to gain by stating these facts?
  2. Why would Putin, who after decades in power throughout which he has gotten the last 3 Presidents to try and "reset" with him only to show his true colors, suddenly become a real Mr. Nice Guy?
  3. Why would the various Republican leaders jump so quickly to their levels of assumed guilt of Russia when they could just as easily make vanila statements like "we have certainly seen a good deal of at least circumstantial evidence of possible foul play and simply believe, given the potential gravity of the allegations, that we delve deeper into this"?

Those are just some high level queries that should jolt even the most partisan.
