Wednesdays

Some Pretty Good Tracks yes

I'll have to check it out.

Dear John the version with Nora Jones has sort of become my 2020 anthem.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPulRsRs-EM

Will the artwork on the inside gatefold b an image of him non-consensually exposing himself?

Yep he had creepy texts exchanges with a 16 year old who said she was older than she was, and according to her he exposed himself on video chat and he leveraged his fame  with women artists to get sex and then gaslighted them. He is an asshole and if a court convicts him I 100% think he should do the time.

But if that is your bar for listening to an artist you better throw away all of your music including the dead.

Yes, yes, everyone knows virtually all artists r terrible people, I imagine doubly so for the boomer generation and it's predecessors, but it's 2020 and times have changed.

u can't just go around mudsharking any groupie that gives u the eye anymore without consent.

let's stay focused on what this thread is about:  RA's ill timed Christmas covid comeback.

so I haven't heard any of the album yet, but the title sounds as mediocre as most of his post 2010 output.

is this new release more of a dethmetal attack on Mandy Moore or a weepy, solo acoustic affair sheepishly asking for forgiveness for Louis CK'ing phoebe Bridgers, Emma swift, probably a bunch of other up and coming female indie singer/songwriters, and exposing his nardinals to some underaged girl on zoom or whatever?

asking cause I have a bet going with st. Mark who hasn't heard the album yet either

The album is just about what I expected when Adams resurfaced. Put a good songwriter in a period of self-reflecting solitude and you get a bunch of introspective songs. It would have been a huge surprise to me if this album was rocking. I haven't listened a lot but I like what I hear and can tell the some of the songs will grow well on me in time.

As for the allegations about Adams' behavior, I look at it this way. If there was substantial fire that was the foundation for all the smoke, it would have been out in the open by now. If you remember, the FBI said it was looking into these allegations. If they found them substantial, Ryan would have been indicted and be facing trial by now. It's not like Ryan Adams is in a position of power that could squash a FBI investigation. Can he be a jerk and socially inept? Absolutely. Is he a criminal? I don't think so.  .

Either way, I'm just thankful Bucky Badger isn't alive to see any of this

Cryin ryan rocks

thanks Zooey

Say hi to St. Mark.

Will do, lance.

hope you're doing well and staying safe.

I also hope u haven't come to this thread to praise and/or defend that unrepentant, serial abuser, Ryan Adams like so many others here have.

I'll cancel u and everyone else here if I have to.

If you'll recall, I already had my imaginary children burn their imaginary GTTS jerseys and action lance dolls with adjustable sf giants caps once, please don't make me do it again, not during the holidays

lol E

>>> had my imaginary children burn their imaginary GTTS jerseys and action lance dolls with adjustable sf giants caps<<<

Big mistake. Those imaginary action lance dolls are going to be worth real money some day.

That lil' Giants cap pulling down over the eyes is so awesome.

And I'm doing OK, holed up here in San Jose.

Hope all is well up there in the hinterlands.

Stay safe yourself, and keep posting.

And tell Mark to get back in here too. If he's banned, then I say...

RELEASE ST. MARK!!!!!!!

As for Cryin' Ryan, I've always been a fan, but I don't really care about what he's doing these days.

Dude needs to comb his hair.

Either way, I'm just thankful Bucky Badger isn't alive to see any of this<<<

Say it ain't so.  What happened to Bucky?  That guy was aces.  His Sopranos knowledge was unrivaled.

Didn't he tragically take his own life after his greater conscience was faced with the full extent of RA's gross misconduct, manipulation and perversions after having been in denial to the extent of, arguably, almost even abetting him for years?

or am I thinking of Neal Casal?

Some ZOTY quality posts in here from Furious E

Some ZOTY quality posts in here from Furious E

Zoners got to Zone.

I just hope the Neal Casal Mafia doesn't get wind of these posts. I'd hate to hear the E sleeps with the fishes.

Too soon?

Happy Death Day Space Wolf.

11 years gone.

Got about halfway through that.

It sounds like a new Neil Young song (Neil's new songs are bad too).

And the dude still needs to comb his hair.

That song is terrible

I'm waiting 'til Phil weighs incheeky.

Phil, much like most tasteful and upstanding entertainers, seems to have publicly distanced himself from the careening train wreck that is Ryan Adams.

We must come together as a community and cancel this ill-timed covid Christmas comeback.

Ryan Adams needs help and a swift kick to the nardinals followed by a lengthy time out may just b the thing, it may b the only thing.

Through our well intentioned mockery and scorn we can hopefully shame him into seclusion after being visited by 3 ghosts of his past, present and future on Christmas Eve.

only then will he have a chance of re-emerging sometime in the distant future healthier and, God willing, with better material.

By blindly accepting this highly questionable album now, we do a disservice to ourselves and the once great artist that was Ryan Adams.

we and he r at a crossroads.

I fear that if we enable his Wednesdays we may never return to the glory of Saturday's cold roses ever again.

The philzone destroyed him once, it can do it again, only this time in the name of righteousness rather than petty grievances.

God bless us, everyone

"Swift kick in the Nardinals" made me lol

I fear that if we enable his Wednesdays we may never return to the glory of Saturday's cold roses ever again.

As much as Adams' Cold Roses era material causes my ears to erupt in ecstasy, it was all born from a hell that is addiction at it's worst. I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy much less an artist that has provided so many great songs over the years. Perhaps only those who have experienced an addiction bottom can understand where I am coming from. I would much rather see a healthy (relative term with many) David Ryan Adams than have him come anywhere close to the flame that spawned Cold Roses. If that means some good songs but nothing close to the highs of the past, I'm more than ok with that.

The philzone destroyed him once, it can do it again, only this time in the name of righteousness rather than petty grievances.

Righteous is one word that I would never apply to the zone flavor of the now, or the past, or the future. With the multiplying effect of online communications, there will always be a majority of pettiness in all things from now on. Petty attacks get multiples of more view than any supportative statement on or about any subject. This is not a Zone only observation. It doesn't matter what community or subject matter is posted about these days, the internet will spew as much venom and suck as much life and positive movement out of anybody that it can. It's only a matter of time before everyone of us will have every questionable situation we were ever involved with posted, catalogued and ripped apart by whoever can behave in the worst manner about it. Those people will become the gods of influence.

>>>>>>>It's only a matter of time before everyone of us will have every questionable situation we were ever involved with posted, catalogued and ripped apart by whoever can behave in the worst manner about it.

I don't think "let he who hasn't masturbated in an online video with a 14 year old cast the first stone" is really a great argument.

While I think we can all acknowledge that he won't write another Cold Roses or Jacksonville Nights, or even Gold we don't need to support this woe is me abuser anthem stuff he's writing now.  And at the same time we can wish that he's happy, healthy, and sober and not using his fame to be weird towards women and young girls.

Great perspectives, Tony and Hoover.

I respect and appreciate u both.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge how much RA managed to out-douche Father John misty in the long run as far as the little semi-celebrity tiff goes that they had a few years ago.

Misty seemed to b pulling ahead in the self important douche baggery department but the Adams #metoo fiasco, now combined with the paltry offering of 'Wednesdays', really left ol' Mr. Tillman in the dust.

Now all that remains to b seen is which one of them can get the quality of their song writing output back up to par first....

>>>Righteous is one word that I would never apply to the zone flavor of the now, or the past, or the future<<<

The vast majority of evil and violence or just plain meanness ever done in the now, the past or the future has been done in the name of righteousness.

Find me anyone who doesn't justify their words or actions as righteous.

It's how most of us don't end up killing ourselves.

I know this because I'm right(eous).

If Ryan Adams, Jackie Greene, and Father John Misty were all drowning in a river and you could only save one of them

Where would you take Father John Misty to lunch?
