The sabbatical is over. New Utopia tour

Forums:

32 years is a bit of a break but Utopia was quite a performance unit when they were active. Might be interesting to see what this tour is like. One thing you can say about Todd Rundgren is, besides pushing the performance envelope throughout his career,  that he has written some damn good songs.

Probably a fair guess but Mr. Rundren is probably not hurting for money. One of the smartest things he ever did was take a minimal up front producers fee in exchange for points on one of the best selling albums of all time, Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell. It still throws off a pretty good hunk of change.

They also did a one show reunion at the Akron Civic Theater in 09. I have not gone to any Todd shows recently because the set list are nothing I want to see, bang the drum, pass. This on the other hand I am in.

The Road To Utopia!!! I'm very excited about this!

Masonic !!!

Interesting and a little disappointing it's not Roger Powell on keys, but I imagine this group will be playing the classic '70s stuff, which will be damn good to see & hear again.

Then again it may just be tired & old, but I'm willing to find out.

April 25 Broward performing arts center.

Sweet tickets

My older brothers had this album I listened to this a million times when I was 10 or so.

Roger Powell declined the invitation to go on this tour because has almost complete hearing loss and doctors said that this would be very dangerous for him. Better to stay home and save what hearing he has left.

As good as this and other Todd records were on vinyl back in the day, because of the time limits of vinyl, they had to compress the crap out of the music just to fit it on the disc. It is worth picking up CD copies of them and you will be amazed on how much better they sound.

Got my tix for the Masonic, psyched!

Tim, I was going to send you an email as I think you saw Tod last year and ask you if I should go to the Utopia show at the Paramount.

Both Tony and you approve, I see.

I'll grab a ticket. But had I done that, when I first saw it posted at the Paramount last Monday. I could have gotten a really good seat.

Now, I'll be by the talkers, if its not sold out.
