"Saved by a song"

Forums:

Seattle folk legend Jim Page shared this video on FB,  I found it powerful enough to share here...

<< Can songs change the world? Singer-songwriter Mary Gauthier says they're a good place to start. Having personally experienced the healing power of music, Mary now works with wounded veterans.“Trauma goes deeper than words,” she says. “But music can get into those places.” Mary explains how the healing reaches the listener as well: “Songs create empathy and open the heart. An opened heart can open the mind. When the mind is opened, it changes a person.” >>

The power of music and good writing. Can do wonders.

Powerful, indeed. Thanks, Noodler.

indeed

also let me add:

dementia folks are often only connected to life through the music they love

it is a wonder to behold

I like her explanation of trauma @ 11:20. Music is undeniably a powerful healing tool.  Beautiful, Thanks

"the storyteller writes the ending"

may we all write our own happy endings

Thanks for posting this. I have one of her albums and damn she writes some dark shit, but she also paints a picture better than just about anyone. Falling Out of Love, I Drink, and Your Sister Cried are some of my favorites.
