Bss, I love that clipping.
Sorry to take away some of inanity, but Grants Pass has an affinity of sorts with a Caveman, shown by statues, naming of businesses, high school mascot, etc. They're serious about it.

I just remembered that Hollywood High School's mascot was The Sheik, Rudolf Valentino. Someone wearing an Arabian outfit would ride out on the football field on a white horse, and also swing across the stage at assemblies. I was only there one year and marveled.

Just went to my first gathering yesterday of The Divine Assembly here in SLC. Sacrament was available, and they'll assist people to learn how to grow sacrament. The woman doing the class next week at her house was very knowledgeable. https://www.thedivineassembly.org/

We got hit by a pretty strong storm last night,  an F1 around 10pm.  This is from a couple of miles away at a friend's house.  The top of an oak tree not close to the house broke off, was lifted and "deposited" here in their spare bedroom.  Fortunately, no one was in there.

Sweet!  ^

Doc, Saturday of that weekend was my first show.

Nepal 1991 on a trek in the Himalaya. One night me and a girl from London paid 25 cents a night for both of us in a hotel in Tatopani. Well we were together for maybe 5 nights at this place.but 25 per night

nepal woman with loom.jpg

^^^^^ Is that the girl from London?

It's her daughter!

 smiley

I had some good hash and we'd smoke some. Walk an hour or 2 in the mountains and smoke some more etc....

Trekking in Nepal was one of the most fun and free times I ever had. And cheap except for the food as everything had to be carried by strong Nepali people on their backs back then. Was drinking bigbottles of Tuborg beer at that place that they carried all the way up there on their backs. I was told some people carried 100 kilos!surprise Whether true or not they carried a shitload. I have pics of it. It was a touristic trek and they had many different foods and sold cold beer that the locals could never afford. I still have a card from that restaurant and would post it but my copier is broken. They served an International food selection days walk in the mountains.

Today there is a road there.

And the girl from London was named Henrietta. A beautiful soul! I knew her for like 2 months in Nepal. Met her and her 2 girl friends on the bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara. We hung out together. and I think first smoked with my good Kathmandu hash together on that bus trip on a stop. They were eventually going to Japan to teach English.

I have some good pics I'd post from then but scanner is fucked!

Nice Mikey!

See I was raised right!

prepare to stop

IMG_6287.jpeg

A few years ago we were waiting to cross the Willamette River on one of the small ferries that run near here. A car came flying over the ridge and down the ramp, nearly hitting us and nearly ending up in the river before they could stop.

They told us their nav system didn't show a ferry or even a river crossing at all.

Seems doubtful, as there are multiple signs and sharp turns to get to the ferry.

Some people.

Nice pics Lance! So you made it to MSG. I thought you were just a Cali show guy.

Was legal in Nepal until the 70's

>>>I thought you were just a Cali show guy<<<

I was. I've never had the lust to travel and I despise flying. Over 17 years I saw the GD all over California and one (bad) set of shows in Arizona in '94, but other than that Arizona trip the two MSG shows I saw in 1990 were the lone out-of-state exception.

I hadn't been much of a fan of the band and specifically Brent in the previous couple of years and I really wanted to hear what they would sound like with a different keyboard player.

About three weeks before they were to play a long run of shows at MSG to gear up for a European tour, the final few shows with Hornsby joining, an opportunity arose for 12th row center seats for the final two shows of that MSG run, so I sucked up my fear & loathing of flying and took the leap.

Turned out to be a very good decision.

Now, in keeping with the thread topic and to honor the beginning of football season, here are a couple that I think were taken in September, from my seat at Candlestick a looooong time ago...

Strain? Nice late berries too.

Berries are fort Laramie type, everbearing

weed is obama kush x 09 animal cooks line I've been working on a couple seasons now, little lower nug from a seeded branch

Sounds like a potent cross. With each parent having an OG line, do those characteristics dominate?

Down East Maine yesterday

jkabc.jpg

Mike; basically this line has been selected with something of a "modified" bubba kush in mind (morphology, flavor, effect).

Only cookie influence I wanted was just to help tighten up the floral clusters a little bit in the initial cross. Looking at a bed of s1 of that selection here:

And who might that be under the beanie in the back seat, I wonder.

Bob Dylan at the Copa Room at the Sands in Atlantic City. (Yes, Frank played that room back in the day).

750 people. I somehow greased the Maitre D' well enough that he marched us up to a table against the low stage, right in front of Larry.

That early show was *almost* the first all-acoustic Dylan show in a LONG time, but for the second encore they did an Electric Not Fade Away.

Just an unbelievable two sets. (we had also gone to the Barton Hall show, which was kick ass). The next night in Delaware was another barn burner and the last show of the incredible Fall 1999 Dylan/Lesh tour...

Castle Valley, Utah from the La Sal Mountain Loop Road. You can see Castle Rock that they used to film Chevrolet commercials YEARS ago, but also Jon Bon Jovi's "Blaze of Glory" video.

BLM thought it an OK place to build a drive-in movie screen and burn it to the freakin' ground. No harm, no foul, eh? Check out his video and at the end you can see the Colorado river from the air.

Pleasant day on the creek in Capitol Reef and when ya look up, you see this...

IMG_3099 (800x600).jpg

Got to go on a fire call yesterday. A double tanker truck with diesel and gas burned on the only highway into the area. No human injuries, thankfully.

Turns out the driver veered off the road a little with two tankers, one with diesel and one with gasoline. The back tanker clipped the road when the driver corrected and tried to fully get back on the highway. It flipped, ruptured, and caught fire. The guy was actually dragging a burning tanker for a spell. When he saw that, he stopped, got TF outta there and ran, I assume at a very fast pace.

IMG_3118 (800x600).jpg

Great trip. I got to visit a couple of hours with Ken Sleight, ol' "Seldom Seen Smith" hisownself, and play him some of my wilderness songs. His lovely wife Jane suggested I come back in spring to do a  concert at the ranch. They couldn't have been more gracious. And she gave me a gorgeous book on Cathedral in the Desert she had just bought and read that day.

I got skunked two days in a row at the Moab airport looking to skydive. The winds came up and they canceled jumping. They can take ya up to 13,000 feet and then you have 55 seconds of free fall. Tandem - I'm not THAT stupid.  Went back the next day, and was harnessed, had the talk and the pre-jump interview for the video I was having them take... but better safe than sorry. Another time. If I'm gonna jump, Canyonlands seems like the spot. https://www.skydivemoab.com/
