The Serpent, on Netflix

Forums:

Anyone else watching this show? It's a true story about Charles Sobhraj, a mass murderer in Southeast Asia. It's really fucking good, and the acting is stellar. So much goes on and it's so intense  that I can't really watch more than one episode at a time.

I have that on my favorites list...good to know.  Thanks

Going through Rotten episodes currently.

Seaspiracy is very good, also.

We just started watching this last night and made it through the first two episodes.  Didn't know it was based on a real story.   I know that's what the opening credits say, but these shows often take a great deal of artistic license so didn't think much of it.   Still crazy as all fuck.

Once we finish it, I will have to read the real story for comparison (no spoilers please).

"Stupid fucking hippies."

No spoilers from me. We're on episode 6. I guess the main characters have all written and been interviewed extensively about it over the years, and at least one of the real people was a consultant.

I get so pissed off because he doesn't have to go as far as he does. It's all for pleasure.

I like it so far. The main character and his creepy sidekick are really good.

A reminder of a bygone analog era when people could disappear with the greatest of ease, especially if they were traveling in a foreign land.

episode 1 was creepy...not sure i need to see that.

episode 2 was better.

The 'french' girl's accent is atrocious. If you can get past that, it's pretty good.

Just finished it

It was pretty good. The guy was a fuckin psycho. Want a drink?

I'm on episode 6 and loving it. So creepy. Nadine has balls of steel.

Another show I liked was "Lupin", a French series based on the early 1900's book about the adventures of gentleman thief cat burglar type, Arsène Lupin. The last episode or two felt abrupt/ rushed, but apparently they ran into covid restrictions filming at the end and are going to resume shooting another season soon. Very enjoyable.

The lead actor did an amazing job. He played a psycho about as well as the dude in Silence of the Lambs.

I'd get really pissed off when watching it, because the dude was such a dick. He really didn't have to kill all those people, especially for the spare change he was taking from them.

Man, I didn't want it to end. Kinda surprising to see the woman who was with him at the tv interview in the end.

Watched e. 1 last night. Well done but stressed me out. Maybe I relate too closely to the victims.

I'm going to pass on this one. I don't want such a sinister vibe in my head.

>>>>Man, I didn't want it to end.

They alluded to some of the stuff that went down after he was arrested in India.   Without giving away any spoilers, I read up on what happened next and its just as crazy as what happened before then.   They could probably do a second season with events occurring before and after the first season.
