Phil Lesh & Friends. with Jason Crosby, Eric Krasno, Grahame Lesh, James Casey, Jennifer Hartswick, John Molo
Nice evening of the music we all love,
Phil & Molo .... always amazing
Krasno & Grahame were trading leads all night. Grahame has gotten progressively better over time.
Krasno was really good .... had not seen him before.
Jennifer Hartwick on vocals did one of the best Deep Elems I've ever heard, Same with James Casey on Dear Prudence. Would have liked to see more of James - will catch him with Billy on the rooftop in NYC next month.
The 2nd set was really good. IMHO Dark Star & Playin were a little lacking in energy - but that might have been the darkness from my eyes (or the 1970 DS that I heard yesterday ... )
So glad that the old man is still playing that bass. Get it while it's hot.
I thought this was one of the best Phil shows I been at, I loved the prudence and thought that DS went waaaaay out there, still trying to process what I witnessed tonight
Good show. Grate venue.100% times better than than that awful dump in Bridgeport. The show was a little short by Phil standards but the guy is no spring chicken. Jennifer was the MVP. I thought there were a few notes missing in some of the guitar work but I'm just being picky (get it?). Nice Charles Ives jam mixed in with one of the DS segments. Both Phil & Warren seem to throw one in every time they play in CT. All in all, how lucky are we?
I saw my 1st show 6-17-1976, at The Capital Theater in Passaic NJ, Ive been on the bus a Long time.. Taped and Followed The Ole GD till the end in 95, with small Hiatus's, raising children, taking care of life. I saw Ratdog many times, It was not really Until Phil and Friends (2000) started playing that I actually Felt Reconnected with the Music, Then, The Dead and Furthur. Phil always brought the goods more with these Incarnations. I have seen Phil, more than any other band member out on there own, And do not regret any of it!! Living on The east Coast and Close to the Capital in Portchester Ive been blessed with how many show's I have been able to see.. But Last night was really kind of a MEH Moment for me.. There was No X factor, Yes The 3 part Dark Star was good. Jennifer was Great and The crowd showed her how much they loved her.. She did Crush it!!! For me, I feel the Phil Ride is over and perhaps this may have been his Last East Coast showing.. He looks tired and deserves to retire with Grace... Too Many Great Fuckin" Times and Great Folks, We have all met along the Way!!!!!
Bummed we missed you Coyotte. Odd you felt that way about the show, maybe on the turf the vibe was different, this felt like a really special show and I relistened to it yesterday and think it holds up. One man gathers what another spills and all that jazz. I hope it was not his last, someone said to me at friday's show that the Cap dates for Oct were briefly up, hoping that is true. You will be missed at future shows if indeed you are out. {{{{{{{{{PHIL}}}}}}}}}
The other thing I noticed was Phil was hitting on a vape pen during the show, had not seen that before, might have been pain managment after 3 shows in 3 days

Thought for sure they'd
Thought for sure they'd finish up with Franklins, but maybe plans changed after the long encore break/potential back problems.
