Shakedown Street 12/31/84

Forums:

Yes!

I've always put this one and 6-30-85 as top two Shakedown ever.

My only New Years show. And it rocked I guess it was a memorial for Parish's family..

6-30

4-7-85

both smokers

I saw both 6-30 and 4-7-85.. my overall feeling is that from the jam on... 6-30 sits alone at the top.

6/30 is good but NYE 84 Jerry digs deeeep and plays some wild funkadelic shit that just blows me away.

My personal favorite Shakedown. A great version from a great show...

The reason I put 6-30-85 at the top is this. At some point about five minutes into the jam after the verses... this song leaves its body and floats alone outside of the song and anything to do with its structure. It's purely psychedelic and is created on the spot with a once and done approach. 6-30 has this like no other.

A great version from a great show...

Real good year for that tune, one of three I saw, also Cornell in May & Buffalo two weeks after Berkeley.  Also, the video of Essen, Germany has the goods.
