Show or Playlist

Forums:

So I had a cap come off of my teeth and I need to have a root canal before putting it back together. Last week I had my consultation with my Endodontic and I noticed a strange reggae rap type of artist on the sound system, it wasn't really a canned type of song you would normally hear. I didn't think much about it, but when I left the receptionist asked what type of music I like, and I said Grateful Dead. The receptionist laughed and said they doctor is going to enjoy that one and then she asks if I used to go to shows, and she has a friend that used to yadda yadda, yadda. So he will be playing music of the Grateful Dead while I am numbed up.

My question is does he play a specific show, or does he do a canned playlist? I'm betting on a show, the young guy looked like he might know.

what do you think?

I'm hoping for some crazy primal shit while being drilled, haha

When I had dental surgery some years ago the dentist let me bring in some CDs to play during the procedure. Luckily I had plenty of DP and others to choose from.

Surf, it is definitely a nice gesture for a crappy procedure you need to endure.

I'll guessing he will put on the motion picture soundtrack for Long Strange Trip.

Well if it's a young guy you'll get a nice slow Dead & Co show to put you out.

i had pink floyd during wisdom teeth....was not a good trip....

I used to take a Taj Mahal CD with a great beat to MRI's, the clang of the machine became part of the rhythm. The don't do CD's there anymore, just things like Spotify or whatever they have. Not the same.

Seems like you could call ahead and request the show of your choice.

I had a dentist playing a comedy routine about going to the dentist. Once the nitrous kicked in I was cracking up and dropping his tools from my mouth. Sadly the channel changed to classical in a hurry.

My friend recently had a very large non cancerous tumor removed from his brain (apricot sized), it was really F'ing him up and his ability to talk, walk, play bass...   the doc asked the same thing, and he said Zappa.  When they wheeled him into surgery, the doc confirms his request, next thing; "watch out where the husky's go, and don't you eat that yellow snow".

When I had surgery a couple of months ago as they are wheeling me toward the OR the anesthesiologist said OK this is the one what is your favorite drink and I said Tequila. The next thing I know I'm waking up in recovery. So if it didn't go well that would have been my last word.

Never enjoyed NO2 at the dentist just doesn't go with what is happening in your mouth.

They had an Alexa Dot in the exam room and it was a Grateful Dead radio statio from Pandora I suspect. Some Allmans, Little Feat, CSN, one live Bertha, and a Sugar Mag from the record. It was better than being poked in the eye, but a bit of a let down. i have to go back in 10 days to finish.

That's cool they asked what music you like and made an effort to play some.  Hope you feel better soon.

If Zappa was to allowed to break out during my visit, I'd ask for a Shiek Yer Booti jamboree.  Peppy and uplifting to counteract the dark energy produced by the sounds of drilling and the odor of smoking enamel.
