What the fuck is this shyster practice? I just got an email from a collections agency, saying I owe over $200 for unpaid tolls on the PA Tpk. Long story short, I have the same name as the person that owes, they traced my email and sent me the bill. They are betting on someone like me, who wants to protect their credit, to just pay so that they can get their commission. They swear that they have fail safes to make sire that doesn't happen, but there are no such things on their online payment form. Fuckin' scumbags.

Tell the motherfuckers to come over to the house and collect.

I sent them to your house, Bss. You got it, right?

I owe you one.

Lol you got it

better than sending them my email

Fine, I'll deal with Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Sounds like you're fucked. Cool blog

> Dog the Bounty Hunter

I hear Dog's been reduced to a just a husk of the man he once was since Beth died.

In all honesty, good luck. That sounds like a tender situation.

Have them send you photos of your license plate from these said infractions, they do have them recorded till the fines are paid.

No Pics......fuck off

Yes pic of different plate.....fuck off

Picture of you....pay your fuckin bill

My plate didn't match with the one making the infractions, and they assured me that I'm clear.

What a shitty practice though, just sending collections prices to random people with the same name, in the hopes of getting paid.

I'm emailing Bernie. He'll be all over it!

Six - Seven years or so and they give up.  I couldn't pay Pennsylvania tolls a couple times because there are no people,  just the automatons.

So they sent me stuff in the mail,  and eventually I can go to Pennsylvania again.

It takes a while,  but there's not a great incentive to visit PA when there's a price on my Head.

I experienced my first automated toll going to WI a couple of weekends ago. 5 years ago there were attendants.

IL makes you pay to leave and come in. I'm so naive I thought the good state was letting people pass freely due to covid and high unemployment, until a friend from the Chicago land area let me know that he received a $244 fine for not having an I-Pass and not paying online within 14 days. They were kind enough to send him a pic of his plates with the fine.

I found that out on day 12 and paid online.

In a way, that discourages Tourism,  but with CoVid you aren't supposed to leave your Home State.

There's probably like a 12 - Dollar bounty on me in PA.

More than the tolls were actually worth,  but I could not pay,  even though I had the Cash.

So if they ever catch up with me,  I hope the Hanging Judge will have some Mercy and use a thin Hemp rope.
My first Defense would be 'inability to Pay because no Toll-People' and then,  a small Bribe.

>IL makes you pay to leave and come in<

No shit - that state has you paying nine ways to Sunday in every way imaginable...aside from one of their biggest scams that is 'The IL Tollway'.

I had a rental car there several years ago that WAS equipped with an unlimited I-Pass (transponder) but they STILL came after me via Enterprise which also "over-looked" that I paid for and had with me said transponder. The fee/fine tally was many multiple times higher than even the cost of the rental car but luckily I had my reeicpt and they somehow made it go away (for me anyway).

There is probably a warrant waiting for me there. LOL. My Uncle found out that he had a warrant there a few years ago as well from a ticket that he knows he paid off in the 70's before he moved to Ft Lauderdale.

well said and very true, Strawbud.  Their site has a tab to hit if you were driving a rental car. They don't miss a thing. I will take the scenic route into and out of WI from now on.

Plus, the scenery between Chicago and St. Louis is stunning, flat farmland. Good luck not dozing off on I-55.

I-55 is (still) toll-free, right? But yea, what an exciting drive on that stretch.

Use caution on those multiple scenic routes into/out of WI too. A friend's sister was popped just over WI border a few years ago with an ounce of weed or so and ended up losing her car to civil forfeiture. Her lawyer said she would end up spending more than it was worth and likely still never get it back. I can only imagine that backwoods WI has been even more so milking that racket after IL legalized too.

I used to drive the 55 quite a lot when I was working for a soil testing lab back in the 90s. The views were mostly corn and soybeans, but I do remember one billboard down around McLean that advertised "ho-made" pies. I never pulled off the freeway to investigate what that was all about because I think some things are best left to mystery.

as of a couple of weeks ago, yes. Thanks for the heads up. Civil forfeiture of a car for being caught with less than what the arresting officer smokes in a month? That's unbelievable in this day and age. Rec state to the east and south, med to the west. Nothing civil about that!  In Madison, you can smoke on public sidewalks in broad daylight ( I don't think it's legal, but I got away with it often), but the rest of the state....look out.

That would've been Dixie Truck stop, Mike. You were wise to keep on driving. That sign at that time was most likely accurate.
