I just watched a documentary on Lady Bird Johnson last night (The Lady Bird Diaries), and apparently, LBJ was thinking about dropping out of politics as early as 1964.

Right decision but it would be nice to go back to precedented times. I don't think that will happen. 

Also this decision gives him a lock on the best President in my lifetime and it is even close.

Beshear is a good man but they need to pick someone from a battleground state. Governor of Pennsylvania would be a good choice. I think Whitmer will help with Michigan but I don't see a two woman ticket.

I agree a battleground state makes a lot of sense.  But maybe they were just talking tactics with Beshear since he had such rare success.  Who knows.  

I do know they've taken any wind out of the press sails from the RNC and assassination attempt.  Well timed.

Being a border stater, he can represent a big first hand opportunity for one of the GOP biggest criticisms of the Biden administration… He is on the senate Armed Services Committee and the joint economic committee. Had a hand in the chips and science act that was helping bring semiconductor manufacturing back in our soil from China(another big gop talking point). His wife survived an assassin bullet that nearly killed her, adding an element of “me too” to the DJT shooting sympathizers. He is clearly one of the nation’s “losers and suckers” that somehow survived, as Donald so eloquently pointed out. He is every bit the hero that MAGAs GEOTUS isn’t. He can appeal to that swing vote independent quite nicely on that foundation

Harris-Kelly has a nice ring to it, and it looks good in print too.

I think Kelly's also more widely-known than the governors being mentioned, and being from Arizona, he satisfies the battleground state component too. I'd be willing to bet a buck that he's the pick.

I do like the idea of an all-female ticket. That will get the ladies out to the polls. I would love to see Trump/Vance routed by the women of the nation.

Whatever is the strongest ticket is who the democrats must run. I am sure those discussions are intensely underway, This is no time for any fucking around. Trump must be beaten decisively.

Leaving the house yesterday and hour after Biden announced I saw briefly that my neighbors had already put up a Harris 2024 thing in their lawn.

While running errands I couldn't figure out how they got a sign so quickly.

On the way home a closer looked revealed that had used a sharpie to change 2020 to 2024.

Brave either way because is pretty trumpee around here.

Unfortunately T. Rump doesn't really care who the Ds run. He is already planning to contest the vote (if he loses) no matter what the margin is.

The Republican response has been amateur hour at best and it is amazing how unprepared they are. Trump kept bashing Biden after the announcement. Then they all said Biden needs to step down as President. Do they not know who would take over?  

Trump said he would debate Biden any time any where and now he is saying he will only debate Harris on Fox. Now we have a 59 year old women running against a 78 year old man. This is not what the Republicans wanted. 

Also amazed at how unified the Dems have been around Harris. She looks like a lock at this point without any real drama. She also raised a cool $50 mil yesterday. 

They want Biden to step down now so that Harris won't be the one to certify the election results. All that changes should Harris become President and then MAGA can hold up any appointment to replace her - it gets messy should she not be Veep for the remainder of Biden's term

They want to call her the ho, No problem, I'll run with it. Stickers will be here tomorrow if ya want one.

Kelly would not be a good choice. Not because he's not qualified, but because they would loose the senate seat which could flip the chamber. Because his term isn't up the Arizona governor gets to name the successor and as a Repugnican he would name one of his own.  

Katie Hobbs is the governor of Arizona, she is a democrat dude.
