So when is Phish at the Sphere getting announced?

Forums:

Fairly reliable source said April 18-21 for shows.
I haven't seen them much in the last 20ish years.
They are always pretty fun when we do go.
That said, their production value is quite good.
I would go for this.

Yes.  Those are the dates I am hearing.   But I think they still need to figure out if they area allowed to give CK the keys to the kingdom.  Phish won't want to work with a pre-programed production.

Hopefully it improves things... I've heard nothing but rave reviews for the latest era so I went this summer for the first time since 97 and was completely unmoved

My friend who went to U2 Said to buy the standing room only tickets, it saved him about $800 a ticket or $400 vs $1200.

I got U2 tix for $450 each in section 300 second from the top. From every review I've read you want to be near the top for the best experience. Particularly some of the the lower balconies you are under the over hang of the balcony above you and can't see the whole thing. Nose bleeds are the best seats in the house.

For U2 the hotel inclusive deals were good but they didn't tell you where the seats were and I'm pretty sure they are on the GA floor.

So if I want to see PHISH play the Sphere I'm looking at $300 minimum ticket price?

A hit of acid is anywhere from $6-$10 per.

Contemplation ensues.

Phish for a limited number of shows with a fan base that loves to travel will be way more expensive than the U2 residency. Unless you win the ticket lottery I wouldn't expect to get in for anything under a $1,000.

So not worth it.

^^Unless you win the ticket lottery I wouldn't expect to get in for anything under a $1,000.^^

Yowza - How much to spend a night at the Bunny Ranch? :-)

ps - asking for a friend

Well the chairs do vibrate in the Sphere so kinda like the Bunny Ranch

I remember when I could see Bill Kirchen & Too Much Fun for $2 every Tuesday night in the early '90s at the Sunset Bar & Grill in Annandale, Virginia.  At the time, it made me seriously question why I was spending $35 a ticket plus travel expenses to go see the defanged Grateful Dead.

$1000 to see Phish in Las Vegas is beyond the pale.

we will love it from our living room

Jay: Tim is likely spinning in his HVAC van at those L prices

The recent shows I've been to, Kurota has been one of the best things about the show.  Assume he gets fully removed from this or is coordinating the visuals?   Also, would the setlist have to be preset and pretimed to align with visuals?

I'm sure it will be fun but no interest for me.

^^Jay: Tim is likely spinning in his HVAC van at those L prices^^

No doubt.  I wish I had Tim's hookup.

peace out.

Granted it's all hearsay, but I'm hearing the production cost for visuals is $10MM per run in year one.  Hence, Sphere is asking for ten night minimums on runs (which Phish won't do).   If Phish does play Sphere, CK5 would require/command significant (if not all) control on the visuals.

MSG notwithstanding, Phish tix are always avail.  U2 tix we're easily avail at and under face.  I'd go see Phish, but my wife cut me off from going to LV years ago.

honestly CK5 getting control of the visuals would be the major deciding factor for me in whether or not to go to this. sure, under normal circumstances, im all about the music and the improv, but i  can see phish play music much closer to my home for much less money, likely at some point next year. CK5 controlling the sphere would be like the whole point. phish playing in front of a massive screen of visuals programed by the concert venue sounds lame af and id prefer another BGCC or greek show with the focus on the music. but if they give CK5 the wheel? then it becomes tempting and has something genuine to offer beyond what i can get at home.

also, to be honest, even with CK5 in control of the visuals, i would rather see tool in this venue. their existing stage show seems made for this place.

I read somewhere that it takes around 15 minutes to program each led panel (there are many) for each song. If that's true, CK's got his work cut out for him. It'd be interesting to see if he could do it partially 'live' in some fashion.

Fk ya

Ticket prices aren't too bad and what you would pay for a New Years show.   Will put in for Saturday.

$137 - $187 per ticket isn't even close to the $300 I mentioned prior.

Who's going? I think the Festival in August > LV Sphere.

Fuck this would be cool tho'

Dead and Company at the Spere should be annouced soon....

So how do they have specific seats on Stub Hub already. Yeah Live Nation isn't in the after market at all

never, ever, ever, ever, should these guys play here

folks are gonna lose their shit and drop like flies out the top

fucksake!

April 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2024, it's confirmed

<<A ticketing request period is underway now through December 11th, with the remaining tickets set to go on sale beginning Friday, December 15th at 10:00 a.m. PT via Ticketmaster. Travel packages will also be available starting December 1st. >>

The taper tickets are the best deal -- wonder if they are under the overhang?

It makes me sad to think that D&C at the Sphere is not entirely unrealistic... But for me, hell no. I'm not even a D&C hater, but they're just not the right band for this. It'd be like seeing the Beach Boys at the Sphere. Also not unlikely.

Weird times...

It'd be like seeing the Beach Boys at the Sphere.

corny early 60s  photo montages, 100ft tall

no thanks.

beach boys 50th was one of the worst shows ive ever seen in my life. a few years prior to that i saw brian touring his lucky old sun album, first set was classic BB tunes and it was awful, brian barely able to keep up, even at one point saying into the live mic that he couldnt keep up, asking the band to slow down. he looked extremely sad, like a shell of a person.

then for set 2 he did the whole lucky old sun album and he was like a totally different person. every note was perfect, he nailed every vocal, was happy, animated, and that set totally blew my mind. the harmonies felt like razor blades shredding my brain. never in my life have i seen a band or performer make such a drastic change from really bad to totally mindblowing in a single show.

from the sound of it, brian has taken a well deserved retirement from touring. the vids from his last tour were really really rough and mostly consisted of him sitting behind his keyboard staring into space while the band played around him. al jardine regularly looks concerned, the rest of the band dont even seem to notice. really really sad stuff that brings to mind the landy years.

Went Friday night and all I have to say is the place is fucking amazing. There is no other venue that even comes close. I was around the middle in the 300's and it was like wearing headphones, super crisp all while being not loud. My ears didn't even ring after the show. It's kind of like the Greek Berkeley where everyone is on top of the band but way bigger. It is super steep so you hardly can tell there are people in front of you, but also lots of room in the aisles.

Very mellow security going in no problems at all but my guess is you are being watched everywhere you go. They have signs about facial recognition.

As for the visuals my feeling is they will look back on this run as early days of concert visuals. U2 didn't use them for about half the songs and just used the screen like a pretty standard concert live shot above the band. I think it must be strange for someone like Bono who is used to having everyone focused on him to look out and see everyone looking everywhere but him. The place does start to bump up against why a live band is even necessary but I think as we go forward bands will figure that out.

As I said the sound was super crisp but not a whole lot of shaking bass. That is probably a U2 thing I doubt the sound system isn't capable and they didn't shake the seats or use the scents from what I could tell. At one point I noticed a short burst of sound that was coming from behind me. Not sure if that was a mistake but I'm sure if someone wanted to they could do some incredible sound swirls in there, but that isn't U2's thing.

Great experience would absolutely go again. Hope I win the Phish lotto, but the Chemical Brothers is who I really want to see in there.

Put in for Saturday night.   Not expecting to get anything, but you can't win if you don't play.

You gotta play to win.

DeadCo should be announced soon.

I tried for a travel package and got shut out. My sister and I were both in right on time, but I pulled a spot 3000+ back (17 minute wait) and nothing was left by the time I got to try. She got in a few minutes faster but also got nothing. I tried for over an hour, until they shut it down.

We both put in for the lottery, but they haven't picked me in years so I'm not optimistic. This will be a very tough ticket.

So is Phish and Dead and Co going to play on the empty stage without their rigs.

would have been cool to be in the room when the advance team from phish walked through the venue to assess the feasibility of the band playing there

i don't like phish and whatever but my friend's buddy is now the bass tech, good gig.

>>would have been cool to be in the room when the advance team from phish walked through the venue to assess the feasibility of the band playing there

"Yeah, we're going to need a foam barrier at the bottom of every aisle and nets under the balconies, for starters."

Yeah I was in the 3rd row 300's and was a little worried about the women in the first row dancing and the U2 crowd was seemingly very sober. Place feels like standing on top of a building looking down.

I doubt Phish needed a feasibility study - Kuroda was reportedly involved in the design of the system.

Here is Bobby on his Sphere feasibility study in November with Natascha (looking up) and a video guy (forgot his name):

Kxela,

Your photo reminds me of a Salvidor Dali painting and/or the back cover of Aoxomoxoa.  Really trippy!

And what you can't see is that whole screen which starts behind you and is pretty much all around you was moving down behind the stage which gave the optical illusion of the stage rising up which at first I thought it was.

Didn't know the Dead were so into U2 /s

Screen Shot 2023-12-08 at 4.09.56 PM.png

Hedged my bets and put in for Thursday too.  Guess I just doubled my chances.

El Nino's pic is truly amazing!!!  It might be wise to bring a full sized rain poncho for any nights with Phish due to all the projectile vomiting that will most likely ensue.   Second set will be the worst....  :(

Cuz mick looks ill or you don't phish

if bill ain't involved and Bob and mick show up

maybe Phil....

Anyone have any luck?

Some slight action... some people reporting the $1 holds...

No purchases yet. Probably 4-days today, single days tomorrow, denials Thursday.

Didn't know the Dead were so into U2 /s

They were there to scope out the Sphere

/s means sarcasm. No luck for me so far. Hoping I have some birthday luck for the Sunday show.

Phish emails are starting!

Nothing for me yet...

It's over. Shut out again.

Unfulfilled....2x.

I feel empty inside.

crying

Shut out

My buddies got shut out.

I was surprised to see 2 GA Floors for Sunday on Stub Hub yesterday for $1,100 with fees. Too rich for me. There will be plenty more Sphere shows, but that was priced lower than many of the seats. Also check hotel deals they were Vegas reasonable for U2.

While no one we know got tickets, the scalpers did great!
This is Saturday only - one day - $180 ticket - available in every section!

IMG_6987.jpeg

Think I will pay $60 to see Billy Strings instead.

^^Unreal!

I came away unfulfilled for 2 tix for 4 nights... probably try for just one night for me and the wife plus one more for me solo now.

got a thursday in 101 ... although heard it's better to be up higher

I also didn't get jack shit. Same with Greek Berkeley last year.

I miss the days of the 3 x 5 index cards - that was the way - this online only way you're pretty much fucked unless you have multiple credit cards and can submit numerous times

like some Phans apparently did.  Crazy that I only did ONE submission.

Good Luck.

For anyone giving the Ticketmaster drop tomorrow a shot how long before it's all gone?

I'm going with under 5 minutes although I'm not a betting man.  Good Luck to all who attempt the seemingly Impossible!!

⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕⭕

I'm going to attempt for Sunday just because it's my birthday and I might get a couple since everyone will be trying the other days. That said I'm fine waiting for Dead and whoever is Co.

Won't last 5 min. I'd take the under unless it's dynamic pricing

But... Dead $ Co. just had their last tour over the summer. A lot of people shelled out a lot of bucks for that. They are reuniting?

Yo heads up Kxela and others per individual sphere tickets for this Phish Run:

Phish 4-Day Ticket (4/18-4/21) Valid All 4 Days, Cannot Split By Day - This is per Ticketmaster, FYI.  Oh and yeah Zang it will be 'unavailable' for tickets probably after a minute or so.

Link: https://www.ticketmaster.com/phish-4day-ticket-418421-valid-all-las-vegas-nevada-04-18-2024/event/17005F742E467A94

^in addition to 4 day ticket packages, they also have tickets for individual days.

I'm also going to try for a pair for Sunday's show, then see if individual tickets become available for the other shows between now and April.

So 10,000 people ahead of me trying to get tickets for a 20,000 capacity venue when half the tickets are already sold in the lottery?

Phish at Sphere line.jpg

What are the chances?

I was 4000 and got nothing

Shut out again.

I was 11000 and after 50 minutes I got in and after a about 10 minutes a couple of floor (non-resale) tickets became available, but at $860 each, I could not pull the trigger.  I guess I didn't expect the band/tm to do us like this.

I guess i'll consider myself lucky that i pulled two

Sunday tix in sec 403 for face ($125 ea).

Got shut out on Sat

There will be plenty more Sphere shows I think it will be hard to keep bands out of there and now that they have developed the Big Sky camera that captures in 18k it drops the price of processing video for the place.  Now it takes days of stitching and transcoding to render the video for the place, but not with the new camera.

Good article on the movie Aronofsky made for it.

>>>>I guess i'll consider myself lucky that i pulled two

You did well.   I don't think I know anyone who had any luck on ether the lottery or general sale.

Right on, DFlo!

Ticket bastard is terrible. Gotta get in early, aim low and get lucky if you want anything at all.  Gotta be a better way.
