These fires just started this morning and already 27,000 evacuated, 150 homes destroyed. People went to sleep and everything was normal, then were awakened to news that fire was threatening their neighborhood.

We are having crazy Santa Ana winds with gusts to 70 or 80 mph.

The 5 is closed at Santa Clarita now.

Today there is a new fire in the Malibu - Santa Monica area, near the Getty Center. The 405 is closed from the 101 to the 10.

Not good at all.  The west coast has had a rough year.

Cool place, don't want to imagine all the art in there being threatened.

Our town, tonight. It's been a long week.

SB thomasfire.jpg

Hell of a run yesterday in SB. 11,000 acres just above town.  Firefighters held it with 60 mph winds.  Pretty unbelievable.  No wind events until midweek.

hopefully gravy and cinderoo (if she still lives in town) are safe.

Good thing the Stalinist Nazis in DC took climate change off the EPA website, big thanks to President Lou Albano...

To clarify that was 11k acres in one day.  The fire total is 270,000 acres.  Whoa.

hang in there g-trian.

The fire makes its own weather.

Time to send Guy Fieri and his smoker to feed the homeless fire victims. WTF

Wow, how horrible. All the best to all the peeps.

We evacuated, and were able to return home today. Everything is a mess, but it's all still here. So grateful to look up tonight and see stars instead of a blanket of smoke. (Happy Solstice)

Thanks for the kind thoughts, Racket, Turtle and all. This was a hell of a fire. Second largest wildfire in recorded CA history is what I'm hearing.

So glad you could come home to your home, Gravy. (((N95)))

((( Stars )))

The Thomas fire is now the largest fire in California history, and 2017 is the most destructive fire season.
