Sonny Barger dead at 83

Forums:

"Sonny Barger, the bigger-than-life godfather of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, equal parts brawler, bully, braggart, rule breaker and shrewd huckster of his own outlaw mystique, has died at 83."

R.I.P.

Never heard this story:

In his autobiography "Hell's Angel - The Life and Times of Sonny Barger and the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club," Barger accused Stones guitarist Keith Richards of delaying the band's performance to work up the crowd. He claimed that he pressed a pistol to Richards's ribs and ordered him to start playing immediately.

Dick White was the founder of HA

They meant Oakland chapter.

Seemed like a Hell of a guy

....it seemed like Jerry may have liked him

...Bill Graham, not so much.

I remember the JGB show at the Palladium on June 25, 1982 that was a benefit for Sandy Alexander's son Erik.  Sandy was the head of the NY Angles chapter.  I can't remember why, but I was not at this show (did see a fe others ont the tour).  I remember hearing the Sonny was also at this --does anyone remember that?

racist, misogynistic, violent prick.  It's a shame an 18-wheeler never turned a bit too much to the left as they were passing on a deserted hwy. Good riddance.

I once knew a guy in Mill Valley who owned a Willys. It was about halfway through being restored. I offered to tile his bathroom in exchange for it and he said yes. A few weeks later I stopped by and the jeep was gone. I said to him I thought we had a deal? He told me that Sonny wanted it. I had no clue my friend knew Sonny. I didn't complain.

I was at that Palladium show.  The original Balcony Leaper blew right by me the left on his way to the rail.

Then I missed his act while I was passing the wineskin to my right.

My one and only show for each of Ronnie Spector and Bo Diddley (and anyone else on that bill 'sides Jerry & John, I think).

The show was for Erik to pay for medical bills, he fell down an elevator shaft,. Weird show... The Rogues played too. The show started late ,as Marshall Tucker Band had played earlier in the night. The Gym next store was a Club house and all the bands were coming and Going and The MTB boys hung out w/ Jerry, It was a Helluva sight to see all the Bikes outside lined up for about 2 blocks. Saw some bad shit go down all night... but over all... Good Time!!!
