So someone invented a device that beams music to your ears that only you can hear. Like headphones without the headphones.

I'll have to cut and paste to explain it more:

The Rooskies had similar technology back in the 50's to make people think they were hearing imaginary voices.  So this is a more refined update,  but they probably owe USSR some patent royalties.

In his book, Angels Don’t Play This HAARP, Begich describes how he provided the European Union legislature with a personal demonstration of implanting voices into someone’s head in a technological approach, Begich referred to as voice-to-skull technology. The European Union leaders were so stunned, they passed a resolution against the use of the technology."

My favorite era from that compilation is when they were ripping off the Ramones.

But reading the extensive liner-note booklets,  the tune "Drug Squad" is about the cops infiltrating the Wales, UK dose people with fake cop hippies who dosed all the time in order to fit in.

A good part of the world is already there with folks going around with ear buds in all the time.

This technology seems strange to me, ultrasonic waves can't be heard and sound traveling through air normally dissipates.  How does a "sound pocket" on the listeners ears get created and move around when the person moves their head?  How can no one else hear it? This needs more explaining.

C-R just do a web-search on "Voice To Skull" and you'll see how the Rooskies figured it out way back when.

Looks like voice to skull is different using microwave electromagnetic radiation not ultrasonic sound waves which are > 20k hertz. 

C-R I think you are correct. The old Rooskie stuff was very low frequency according to various articles.

Then again,  they probably won't ever give away all the details for free.

I've never actually heard Imaginary voices in my head, sonically,  but I hear distant Farm equipment and trucks in the early Morning.

For example, irrigation pumps on a nearby Vegetable farm have a low-frequency rumble.

It's the gas / diesel engine that runs the pump which creates the audio frequency my ears pick up.

How does the device identify the intended listener?

I think Dan Healy was using this technology.  I remember hearing Bobbyyyyy every time Bobby showed up on stage wearing those short shorts.
