IMHO is having an adverse influence on the sports world. It's a head-scratcher why gambling is being allowed such access. I was shocked to see a Sports Book operation attached to the stadium at Progressive Field when I attended Opening Day in Cleveland last week. How can MLB justify keeping Pete Rose out of the Hall Of Fame while cozying up to gambling?
The NBA just banned the Toronto Raptors Jontay Porter (the little brother of Denver Nuggets star Michael Porter, Jr.) for life for placing bets on games he was playing in:

Expect more of these situations if the sports world doesn't kick gambling to the curb.

When I met Pete Rose he was
When I met Pete Rose he was eating McDonald's, wearing a flat brim and World Series or all-star rings on just about every finger, and didn't speak a single coherent word. He just grumbled. It was quite strange.

I'm with you HD. Yes,
I'm with you HD. Yes, gambling on sports IS and has been taking place, but let's stop with the odds updates during the games. The incessant ads are a drag, too. Can we just lose the omnipresent Kevin Hart?
I used to make infrequent 110 mile treks to Wendover, NV to play the sports book on NFL Sundays, and I thought I was a fairly savvy sports better. Limited my betting to about $200 a trip, once or twice a year. The anticipation and betting was exciting. Driving home with my cash in the Mafia's pocket wasn't. Is it different now that ESPN is running some gaming books? Same result, just a different bookie.
For me, this marriage is a drag to watch and I don't see it being that good of a thing. If it were possible to beat the house, people would be doing it. But not many are, and there's a lot of gullible people who THINK they are smarter than the sportsbook experts who study this crap and come amazing close to the scores and spreads on a consistent basis. One can only hope they don't take their anger at their losses home to the wife and kids. And hopefully it doesn't stain the integrity of the games (see Porter above).
That being said, lotteries are out there. The odds are ridiculous, and they are still quite popular. And being in Utah, I like to guard my freedom of choice. I don't like the mormon morality police state. So there's uncomfortable conflict. Who am I to say what someone does with their cash? I just hope they can afford it and their choices don't affect others. Not much I can do.

I knew some people who dealt
I knew some people who dealt black jack for the casinos. One of them quit after the guy she was dealing to lost and told her he had just lost his house. That was the third time that had happened to her. Advertising is the problem here. I'm for making all drugs legal but they can't be advertised in any way.
That said this problem is going to be self correcting - we are just a few years from someone fixing the super bowl. There is no way it won't happen and this free for all will come crashing down.

If you think this is not already happening you are naive. All sports that are bet on are fixed to some degree.
I had a friend that used to sell CIA cocaine to the bookies in vegas back in the 80's. . He had some tales to tell.
For one thing, that Ace pitcher that goes out and just totally gives it up. Happens naturally sometimes, but others it's like, Uh nice photos of your niece riding her bike in traffic. Hope she doesn't get hurt...... Probably safer if you lose tonight.
And I would not be surprised if every super bowl was "under the influence". Just human nature. Too many millions to be made.
That being said, I cannot play online poker for real money in Cali and I am pissed off. I can bet daily fantasy online but not poker.

I would exempt Alcohol, Weed and Tobacco just so they wouldn't fight against it as much, but it would take a constitutional amendment so not holding my breath.
As for the fix - yeah I'm sure it happens now, but with the money sloshing around these days people will get greedy and sloppy.
