I don't ride a bike or a scooter.

They look super - dangerous alright.  I bet they mug and loot,  and break into Hallmark stores.
(Caveat)  I own several bicycles and I'm not frightened of them.

I understand that some people have Bicycle Fear.

They are all over Portland. Looks like fun to me. My teenage daughter and her friends love them

David Lee Roth is spokeman for the bikes....or should be....he needs work

I've been seeing youth riding these things without helmets and weaving in-and-out of traffic during commute hours on my way home.

I wasn't feeling terribly emotional about it, but I was wondering what type of impact these power scooters will have as they multiply over time.  It's also interesting to observe how these things reach the proverbial "tipping point"  - just leave them out all over the place and see if they take hold.

They are all over Downtown/Midtown Atlanta also.

A young professional woman came into the building lobby the other day with torn dress pants and bloody knees. I over heard her saying she wiped out pretty good on a Bird scooter.

This is a pretty solid meltdown.

How long until PLF is shaking his fist & yelling at clouds?

Mopeds back in the late '70s -> early '80's were something.  Kids could ride them on public roads w/o a license,  and a tuned Puch or other Moped would do 45-50 downhill.  All the rich preppy kids had them back then.

Plf is not a fan of slackers.

We coo plf?

That was fuckin funny, Jambone. Thanks for the chuckle.

Btw, if you wanna see what a city overcrowded by these bikes looks like,

Google Paris or Rome. They're everywere in those cities and pretty much

every city in Europe. Less smog? No. Less stink? More, sometimes. Accidents?

Surpringly few, comparatively, as far as I know. I'd think there'd be more.

They just introduced those e-scooters in Portland and they are all over the place.  People just leave them laying on the sidewalk.  I am not sure how they will not all eventually be stolen, vandalized, or thrown in the river.  Few people riding them wear helmets so it won't be long before someone really messed themselves up on one.

Ken's right. In Santa Monica a couple months ago people were flying around on Sat night going to the bars and on Sunday morning the sidewalks outside the clubs were littered with them. I suppose the riders found different ways home. Even saw a wedding party zipping by.

Back East they are hiring gig-economy scooter mechanics 15 dollars a repair I believe - but didn't get the details.

NYC dorks seem to opting for the 'lectronic unicycle-type thingy.

At least the guy I saw pull onto 6th Ave on one was wearing a helmet.  But it made sense.  He had a pocket protector.  Might as well protect his melon.

He looked terrified.  But he went for it.

your people.

I'm pulling for Bluelight to ignore his messageboard stalker this time.

They look like fun for someone taking some hallucinogens

Was at a friend's wedding in the LA area this past April & opted to try out a Bird scooter while I was at Venice beach in order to get up to Santa Monica.  It was definitely fun and cheap enough, but also couldn't help but wonder how long this sort thing will last due to likely exorbitant personal injury cases that will inevitably arise ... as well as municipalities' exposure on this front?   Even if a city has not explicitly entered a contract with with a dockless provider, it might be considered a sort of "tacit" agreement by virtue of not uniformly enforcing laws pertaining to leaving private property on public land.

Across- who are you pulling for?  Bluelight?

We could use a few of these next week at our campground.

They’re every where here.  I’ve contimplated riding to the bar but am waiting until helmet law goes away.  Don’t need to be “pulled over” for no helmet and get a dui.

Ya know DUIs are the next thing to hit the news for scooters, there’s dozens in front of the bars

Not very Rad of you Rob. Haha
