Steve Garvey

Forums:

IMO he's probably the best ever first baseman not in the hall of fame

That is true, can't stand his politics but he was helluva forst baseman.

Steve Garvey, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ronald Reagan... celebrity means a lot in CA politics.

F'n dodger.

Sad but true.

I try to just thin of Garvey as a baseball player, he has zero chance of being elected.

Amd yes, F the Dodgers.....but he was still a great player!

He and Steve Yeager were my 2 faves of that team, which had many greats. That was a hell of an era.

You're not wrong, judit, but it needs to be added that those guys are all Republicans.

If Steve Garvey deserves it then so does Keith Hernandez.

If Garvey wins, that would be a pathetic joke. Unfortunately, the joke would be on us.

Mattingly was better and not an asshole.

Yes, Mike, you're right. > celebrity means a lot in CA Republican politics. <

stop politicizing a perfectly good Dodger's thread.

surprise, rich white guys are republican.

Eddie Murray

Dave Parker

Cecil Cooper

i once got eddie murray's autograph on my glove. he was great.

Garvey reminds me a little of the former Bruce (now Caitlyn) Jenner.  Wonder if he likes to walk on the wild side?

LOLOLOL Dave!

There was no bigger Steve Garvey fan growing up as a Dodger fan than I. Sorry not sorry.

Then he kind of became a turd? Something, something, multiple kids out of wedlock, something somehthing.

"Steve Garvey beats his wife."

My friend's older brother wasn't allowed to bring this banner into Yankee Stadium.  Late 70s?  Early 80s?

If memory serves, he handed it off to some ticket-less folks who paraded around outside with it for a while.

Eddie Murray is in the hall, and Dave Parker wasn't a first baseman

Keith and Garv had some great seasons, but in the end weren't .300 hitters

Mattingly never played on a championship team, nor did cecil cooper I don't think

Not that these are hard rules or anything, but the ones who manage to slip by them (like Jeff bagwell) do seem to be the exceptions

Here's bochy outfoxing donnie baseball in a super clutch situation

when I think of donnie as a Dodger this is the event most cemented into my head

If he wins will he give Curt Schilling a job in his administration.

Of course I know Steady Eddie is a HOFer, Bss, I've still got the t-shirt from when he and Gary Carter got inducted.   He was a role model for me as a kid.  I'm just saying I'd take him over Steve Garvey any day.

Brain fart on Parker.  I also loved the Cobra's game, but I was thinking of Willie Stargell when I wrote that, who is also a HOFer.

Anyone remember the Red Sox George Scott?  Another solid 1B from the late 70's early 80's era.
